The GOP Base Loves Trump
Slate ^ | July 1 2015 4:51 PM | By Jamelle Bouie

There’s no world in which Donald Trump is a serious candidate for president. Republican elites don’t want him, Republican donors don’t want him, and if—through some cosmic fluke—he managed to win a major primary, every strategist and activist in the Republican Party would turn their aim toward him and his candidacy.

Cruz doesn’t need a field cleared for him.

Sure he does...His numbers aren't that high...To many, Cruz is just another politician...And even a trouble maker...

Trump is waking people up who have given up on politics...These people are looking at Trump and Trump is pointing right to Cruz...

....”The rest of us however know better and see right through this clown”....

Well I think you’re greatly underestimating who moves the masses...after all look at the folks that got Obama the Presidency.

Americans are angry with politicians...and that’s most of them...so Trump’s “tough talking” appeals to many and rightfully so as he expresses what Americans are thinking without regard for political correctness, which everyone is more than fed up with.

I don’t believe he will be the nominee...I do believe he needs to be in the race and is shaking things up enough to get these Politicians to see the game has changed.

Don’t be so sure of that... Cruz is supporting what Trumps saying because he understands the American people need to hear the truth and he’s happy to support any who speak it. Trump’s certainly not hurting Cruz...so I say let things move along as they are doing...the two respect each other...and I respect how they are handling each other.

Well Trump is against the TPP, I’ll give him that.

Yes I can understand that aspect of it, I too long for someone outside the establishment to shake things up and start listening to what the people want. I just wish that someone was somebody else besides Trump. That ego of his is just too much for me at times, ugh.

It's still early as they all are still coming to the gate. The actual race hasn't begun yet....rather like a horse race where they're being seen and heard as they come to the gate.

Trumps going to learn himself a great deal as he runs....and yes he needs to be more careful with his choice of words and the thunder he speaks with...but right now we need the thunder even if it's not appealing to hear as Trump presents it. imo.
Besides Trumps thunder ego protects him...it's a self protection mechanism he uses to ward off the attacks he's accustomed to throughout his business dealings...and it's worked there for him...

"The media is promoting Trump. Buyer beware."

Wow that is some spin. Every time they mention him they are promoting him.

I don’t think it is so much “Trump”, I definitely believe the message is resonating however.

Trump is a Reality TV diva, so he believes any attention is good attention. And the media bashes him to an extent but not like others. They protect him on the gay issue. They covered up how deeply unpopular he was with Republicans and they pump up his mumbers.
