Tracfone Users? (vanity)
nowhere ^ | today | me

Posted on 06/27/2015 7:36:15 PM PDT by SaveFerris

Well, hope this is OK to ask. I have a Tracfone. I purchased it last year. NOW the dang bonus card is missing with the codes for the bonus. I haven't had to renew for about 3 months and just bought the $40 3 month card. There is a bonus code for June that gives you about 40 free minutes.

Anybody got the code? It's the same for multiple users. Tracfone messaged me with the code for the 1 month card but I bought a 3 month card. And now my card is misplaced. Aaargh.

TIA

Try http://www.preprepaid.com/currenttracfonebonus.php. It has 12734 for 60 bonus minutes on 200 and 38483 for only 20 bonus minutes on 200.

I have a Tracfone for my backup phone. My main one has lousy reception once you get more than 100 feet off the freeway in some areas even close to my house, but it's a great deal for data which I end up using more anyway. The Tracfone ends up costing only $7/month as a backup.

Tracfone LG Ultimate 2 Prepaid Smartphone + 1200 Minutes/Texts/Data + 1yr service...$95, it’ll be around again, if not cheaper. Nice phone.

I fired tracfone last year after they zeroed out my minutes for the fourth time in one year. I had over 500 minutes and 1.5 years on the phone the last time, and was in the hiring process for a job. I had to buy a cheapie phone to fix it. Carlos Slim owns TF and about five other MVNOs, and the recovery processes are the same.

They’re cheap, but not if they cost you a job.

OMG now that you mention that. Just 3 days ago I went to my local grocery store and as I was walking out. A woman with papers in her hand and a small table stopped me and ask if I wanted a free phone. I told her I have my phone, she then proceeded to tell me if I am on food stamp, Medical, Medicaid, etc. I am eligible for a free phone from the state. I was ready to tell her “No wonder we are going broke”, but I told her I’ll think it over. Which I didn’t but sheesh no wonder so many love their Obama Phone.

Thanks everyone - hopefully that is it - I could drop by the Wally World where I got it but I’ll check that out.

Thanks again.

UPDATE: That code worked. Thanks!

Yeah, I use it for backup. Plus, amazingly, it worked in Resume Speed, Kansas where my Virgin phone wouldn’t.

Weird.

Getting a “free” nobama phone is the latest scam available to low income people. You’re supposed to get just one phone per family, but that rule has been horribly abused.

Never forget who pays for those “free” nobama phones.

Bummer. I’m sorry to hear about that. I was down to my last 5 days - still had over 400 minutes before this added 460 - guess it’s a 15% bonus. But as you know, the phones eat up minutes quickly. I basically use it for an answering machine.

I just buy my minutes over the internet. You can find the codes online just by googling “tracfone codes.” Some won’t so just try others and one will usually work.

LOL! I bought my first TracFon because I saw all the local Mexicans all had them—and thought they'd be cheap!

I came to FR just to find threads about TracFone tonight; and I saw this thread.

We’ve used them for many years, and for our use the service has been wonderful. The Tech people are great.

Recently, however, we ordered a new phone, which never arrived. They had charged our card, never sent the phone, and claimed that it was the fault of FedEx - even though FedEx had told us plainly that they had never received the shipment; and the tracking record confirmed that.

Finally, TracFone admitted that the tracking record was accurate, and we began the process of ‘fixing’ this.

After 3 hours, over two days, of trying to get the situation rectified, we finally gave up. We kept getting transferred to more and more people who couldn’t speak very understandable English, all of them wanting the same information over and over.

Now we’re just trying to cancel the order. But trying to cancel seemed to be leading us into more hours with Customer Service.

We’re patient people, but we don’t have that kind of time to spend on one simple purchase, so we gave up, told them that we’d be contacting our bank, and hung up. The process was so bizarre, with so many different people starting over and asking for our information again and again, that we became uneasy.

TracFone is great on the Tech side; but the ordering/payment side can be, in our experience, a mess. I’ve had ordering problems with other vendors - but none that took more than a few minutes to reconcile.

Buy your Tracfones on eBay. If you keep watch you can get a free Android phone with a year’s worth of service of $89.99/

But can I then transfer the 2000+ minutes that I have on my old, antiquated TracFone?

I only use this thing so that I have something on me in the event of emergencies; and the two times recently that I’ve tried using it (old Motorola flip phone) it hasn’t been able to get reception. That’s why my husband wanted me to finally have a ‘smart’ phone. (I’m a bit of a Luddite ;-)
