Scientists have developed a drug that can help bones regrow.
It could be used to treat people suffering from osteoporosis and other bone-related problems stemming from conditions including diabetes and obesity.
Researchers found the drug, which acts on stem cells, suppresses a protein called PPARy. When this was reduced in mice, bone growth was encouraged. [ ]
The new drug is being developed at the Scripps Research Institute in the US, where Professor Patrick Griffin, of the department of molecular therapeutics, said: These findings demonstrate for the first time a new therapeutic application for drugs targeting PPARy, which had previously been investigated for use to treat type 2 diabetes.
He added that after demonstrating the potential in mice, the next step is to perform an in-depth analysis of the drugs efficacy in animal models of bone loss, aging, obesity and diabetes.

With near bottom of Red Zone OP this could be very interesting.
I REFUSE the OP drugs on the market as they all carry a FDA warning and Foreto carries the highest a Black Box for Bone Cancer. Fosamax caused me extreme pain, nearly sent me to the ER when it drove my BP out of the roof.
My doctor is pushing this stuff on me, but I refuse to take it for the very reason you state.
Taking Metformin, my waking blood sugar was usually 125 range. It would be in low 200s after meals. Started high fat, low protein, low carb diet. Waking reading now low 90s, after meals 120s. Key is very low carbs, even the so called “good carbs” hidden in fruit and fiber. Anyone suffering from taking Statin drugs or Type 2, please read:
Cholesterol Clarity and Keto Clarity.
That answers the question ABOUT SIDE EFFECTS. IF THE DRUG ACTUALLY WORKED WITH NO SIDE EFFECTS IT WOULD BE USEFUL. I’M ALLERGIC TO ALL THE op DRUGS.
Nor 1 of them needs another drug to fix the side effects. Knock on wood I’ve not had a hospital ER visit since Aug 2014. What is so damn hard about stabilizing the lumbar or the cervical disc. All traditional conservative measures has failed.
We now have some small studies on PPI acid blocker use and it doing damage to Gastropresis. they are supposed to be a 2 week fix. Crappy Medicare and Tricare Life restrict w2hat thest and procedures they can do. Gov’t health car sucks.
Go for back MRI’s on Tuesday, Not going to be a good day, will need pain pills. For what little use they give. going down 1 point is not enough. Nor does the paid address the popped disc in spine that causes severe leg pain and colon pain.
A couple shot of Scotch works better on the pain.
