Theodore Roosevelt's Long Island mansion is set to reopen to the public following a $10million restoration. Sagamore Hill, known as the 26th president's 'Summer White House,' underwent a four-year restoration by the National Park Service. The Lincoln, Jefferson and Grant portraits have been cleaned and the massive elk, moose and buffalo heads are back on the wall following the extensive works.

I knew Teddy was a time-traveler, but nobody would believe me ...
IN Oyster Bay(cove neck)....ON Long Island.
Get it straight news media and the uninformed. I do not live in a cave....I live ON Long Island.but I live IN a specific town.
As Manhattan is an Island and a Burrough of NYC....it can be either.
Much thanks
I’m in the middle of “The Rise Of Theodore Roosevelt”. Talk about your man’s man. The guy was born hard.
I’ve seen it only from the water. Must check it out.
I love that style of home. But he seems to have had many dead animals hanging around including a MOOSE.
I've now read all three volumes of Morris' biography of TR. It is really one of the most thoroughly researched bios I have ever read. Morris's "bio" of Reagan was a bust, but the books on TR are outstanding.
I'm not a big TR fan, and I consider him the founder of the RINO party. He was a fascinating man who lived a full and adventurous life, nonetheless.
Oh well, was gonna check out Morris’s ‘Reagan’ too...guess I’ll pass now...:-(
T.R. had quite a gun collection. Wonder where that’s located now.
Well he wasn’t born hard but some time out in western North Dakota helped turn him into a great man.
Too bad he ran in 1912 and gave the presidency to that racist progressive Woodrow Wilson. If he did not die in 1919, he probably would have been nominated for president in 1920 and would have won.
You're right - he was sickly. But He had that 'grit' and determination that got him past his asthma. I think most folks would've succumbed and flat out given up. And he was (as you said) a great man. The badlands helped. ;-)
Haven't got to the Presidential years yet. (Obviously ;-)). Still in Vol. 1. Civil Service Reform and his scroundrel brother, Elliot. :-)
In the Reagan biography, Morris actually inserts himself into the the narrative as a character who is present at the events of Reagan’s life. It was a bold idea, but hardly the work of a serious biographer. It’s actually a rather notorious book. Hard to believe it was the work of the man who wrote such a brilliant exhaustive bio of TR.
Also, TR instilled service to his children.
His favorite son, Kermit, was a WWI pilot and was killed on a mission. Another son, was a general in WWII.
Several years ago my family visited the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora, ND. The buffalo walked right past our car.
Bully for You, Teddy Roosevelt!
Morris is a LEFTY.....he DETESTED Reagan.
