Husband has had kidney stone issues for forty years. Use to drive him to the hospital stopping to let him throw up from pain along the way. He has had many lithotripsy and laser procedures to break up the too big to pass ones. Now he passes one three or four times a year with minimal pain. For a while I put them in ziploc bags with the date to compare sizes. Have never seen smooth ones like in the picture-only sharp many-pointed ones. I have thought that the lithotripsy procedures leave tiny particles behind that build into the bigger ones from calcium or oxalate. But only my theory and have heard not a credible one.

“I was miserable.... the pain would go from a 0-11 in 1/2 second and wake me from a sound sleep to pounding on my side...”

OMG, me too! 30 hours later, I got to push a 15 inch head out of me. :)

“What causes that pain, is it the stones try to pass through the urethra?”

I’ve heard that is the easy part. Passing from the kidney to the bladder is what hurts.

In the 1990’s I was flying home to CA from Tampa, FL.
We weren’t long in the air when an announcement came we were making an emergency landing in Georgia.
When the cabin attendant was in the back where I was, I said to him: ‘If the person with the emergency is alone, I would sit with him/her, if they’d like.
He did a double-take, then went forward up the aisle. A little later he was back, leaned over to me sitting next to the window and said: ‘The emergency is the PILOT!!!’
W e l l l - the co-captain flew that plane like a bullet, to Georgia. The ‘emergency’ was removed from the plane, and we took off. (Don’t know if we had a new pilot, or the co-pilot).
When we arrived in L.A., I asked personnel at the gate if they knew about the emergency on my flight. When I related what had occurred, one woman employee said, ‘ The Captain was passing a KIDNEY STONE!!!’
Good grief - the poor guy!

My brother in law has this problem. He can drop 20+ pounds in no time because of the excruciating pain.

That’s not kidney stones, that’s kidney gravel.

Ever thought to see if ultrasounds would detect those stones prior to doing the flush?

From what I have been able to research, the gallbladder is a small organ that would have to be about the size of a football to contain the hundreds of stones that are being “flushed”.

I’m guessing the flush consists of taking a large quantity of olive or other oil?

Try heating those stones up and see if they don’t soften down into oil.

Those hundreds of stones are what your digestive system does that large amount of oil that it can’t digest.

I looked it up and some of these stones are shaped like stars which I can just imagine rips everything to shreds, I would imagine it’s like trying to pee out a razor blade. That is some major major nasty sht. A few close friends of mind died of cancer and they didn’t even come close to the amount of pain I witnessed this guy go through. It was bizarre as hell, like witnessing someone have their guts shredded by an invisible demon.

Yours eat stones, mine eat squeaky toys.

So far, everything has come out, in the end.

Make sure you get your pharmacist to make up a smaller carrying bottle with the RX on it and carry that.

You have that, you’re golden.

Straight from a cop’s and our pharmacist’s mouth.

Hubby carries his meds in a contact lens case but also carries the ‘script verification in his wallet.

That is acceptable, too.

I am going to assume that neither of our critters will ever be exposed to tofu in their lifetimes.

Wait-a-minute; here I thought yours devoured the souls of wayward travelers.

From travelers to squeaky toys.

I am disappointed.

The the souls of wayward travelers take up virtually no space, kinda like Jello, so there’s always room for squeaky toys.

:)
