An observation about legitimately deleted threads, and the propensity for such thread starters to complain about deleted threads:
When a thread is deleted, the only information about the deletion is by following a link to it - usually available only because the link was up just long enough to appear somewhere. Thing is: the thread creator is not notified, s/he just notices it's not there anymore - and if hadn't kept a link, it just disappears.
So... can I suggest that when a moderator deletes a thread, the thread creator be notified (PM or Ping) of the fact and a link to the thread provided (lest what little is left be completely lost).
I hope this thread gets deleted without notice or warning.
(Sorry. Couldn’t help it.)
Be thankful for FR and the Admin Mods and donate monthly. Those are my thoughts.
BTTT
Before I read further, I summon the Hummblegunner to guide us.
Posting threads is being abused.
In a sense, I pity the poor moderators who must police the threads posted that violate copyright laws and FR’s own clear policy.
In a bigger sense, I pity the FR readers who must even give a glance to the dozens of lazy, sloppy, duplicate posts and threads about the Duggars.
ENOUGH!
It’s is high time that our moderators start cleaning up this place with its useless threads.
The dreaded “Triple Facepalm”.
It would be better if the mods edited the offending content, and locked the thread from further response.
Better still would be an explanation along with the editing.
Total disappearance of content is a passive aggressive stance.
I don't take it personal when they don't.
Nor do I take it personal when FR deems it appropriate to remove something I stick up on here. And I don't need any long-winded explanation or justification.
I realize sometimes I'll inadvertently run afoul of copyrights or it was posted elsewhere or maybe it's just that my prose is deemed just too silly or trivial to be allowed to remain. It happens.
In those cases, I'd rather not know the reason and delude myself into thinking that what I wrote was absolutely brilliant, but for some complicated legal reason, the FR people had to pull it down.
Tough to summon humblegunner without actually pinging him.
Just post an excerpt from your blog and he will appear.
I know he’ll show up if I just summon. Pinging is for neophyte Zotters.
Talking about another Freeper in a public forum without pinging them is rude.
The problem with simply pulling it: unless the original poster bookmarks the URL, they have no way to know why it was deleted.
That makes it difficult to avoid repeating the error in the future.
My psychic powers are diminishing with old age.. but I'm gaining some new ones.
Which is nice.
