Googles self-driving cars will hit the roads by summer 2015 On May 21, 2015, Nvidia (NVDA) started shipping Drive PX, its hardware and software development kit, to leading luxury car manufacturers including Bentley, Aston Martin, Tesla (TSLA), and Rolls-Royce.
Google (GOOG), which has been in this space for the last six years, will be putting its self-driving cars on public roads by as early as summer 2015. Tech giants report that Google, with a fleet of almost 20 self-driving cars, now averages ~10,000 self-driving miles per week. Google claims that its cars have 75 years of US adult driving experience if its test-run miles are taken into account.
North America is expected to lead self-driving cars sales According to the IHS study, North America will account for 29% of global sales of SDCs (self-driving cars) in 2035. This would include level-4 SDCs, which also permit human control, and level-5 SDCs, self-driving-only cars. North America is supposed to be followed by China (FXI) with 24% share of sales, or over 2.8 million units. Western Europe is projected to account for 20% of sales, or 2.4 million vehicles.
Google reveals its accident statistics
Sometime ago, Google revealed its accident data to prove that its self-driving cars are safe on the road. The company stated that its cars had been involved in 11 minor accidents, with no injuries, during its six years in the space. Naturally, the company stated that the accidents werent the fault of its cars.

Yes. I hate Google.
Oh we can install a safety system to prevent a train from operating at twice the safe speed. Problem is it wouldn’t be able to join the union. Which is why their answer is trains need TWO drivers.
Ready or not, it’s coming.
Uber poached a load of staff from Carnegie Mellon to help it make self-driving cars

The Future seems to always involve turtlenecks.
I do too. Once they get into your PC, and they ALWAYS find a way, they're a real nuisance. For a long period of time when I did a Yahoo Images search for something, and the item, for whatever reason, couldn't be located, I would automatically be sent to a Google Images page where there was almost always several near porn pics. Once a big fat guy sitting on a sofa in his underwear. I couldn't find a way to disable this crap. Their settings page didn't have an obvious option for it. It just suddenly one day went away.
What does this car do when no one gives it the space to enter the slow lane to exit the highway?
How does it handle driving through a riot area?
LOL. I thought we were all supposed to be wearing silver jumpsuits by now.
Or a "Progressive"-looking jerk in a Nerud Jacket with a large metal medallion around his neck.
Id like refueling on the fly.
Exactly. There are numerous real life situations like that that I can think of. Something as simple as anticipating what another vehicle might do based on gut feel of looking at what the other driver is looking at or doing. Many times I have avoided a problem by “knowing” what that other driver might do. If a computer waits for a problem to begin, it is already way too late.
I recall a similar spoof regarding automated telephone service.
When salty slush splashes up on the sensors?
Things may well fall apart here before this big brother control freak pipe dream comes into existence.
At the very least, form fitting clothing.
Could be a very hideous future.
The 'dream' might ultimately be for government officials to remotely control our cars in order to control where we go. Joking (sort of).
And what happens when gps and/or power goes down. You can bet if people can’t handle not getting Chicken McNuggets they are not going to handle cars stopping because the grid goes or big brother stops traffic in an area.
Screw dystopia. Forever the Individual.

During self-driving mode, you can swivel the vehicles front seats up to 180-degrees to face the rear seats and have face-to-face conversation with other passengers, creating a more intimate setting.
A cop will never have to pull one over. The Googlemobile will NEVER break any traffic law.
Besides, if the cop wants to stop one, he will just have to activate the remote kill feature that the government will mandate for such cars.
