One LA employee just couldn't take it anymore
A disgruntled Glendale In-N-Out employee went for a true double-double against his former boss earlier this week, disabling the mans car by putting sugar in the gas tank and hiding out with a few loaded guns in what police are calling an armed ambush.
NBC Los Angeles has some on-the-scene details of the emerging incident, which took place around 2 a.m. Monday morning. The alleged attacker, Eric Bloss, was a recent UC Berkeley college graduate whose former roommate says had become disillusioned with his work flipping burgers, and believed that his manager at the Glendale In-N-Out was reprimanding him unfairly.
And with all that pressure to perform, what with the new competing Shake Shack coming soon, it seems the work environment became too much for Bloss. At some point, the 23-year old hatched the self-styled revenge plot against his former manager.
The "imminent" attack, as described by police, was foiled when a passerby spotted Bloss tampering with a car in the parking lot (this was the cartoonishly villainous Phase One: Sugar In The Gas Tank step). That witness tipped off the right people, and Bloss was found not long after (Phase Two: Hide With Guns) waiting for the In-N-Out manager to head for his car after a long shift. Thankfully, the entire plot fell apart before anyone was hurt.
NBC Los Angeles says the suspect Eric Bloss, an Eagle Rock native, is currently being held on $250,000 bail in an LA County jail, where its hard to imagine the food is as good as In-N-Out's.
Or has rocks in his head.
He was a Geology student. And, Geology students always think in terms of epochs and millenniums, which is how long it would have taken for the sugar in the tank prank to work.
Probably after a few thousand miles, the carbon buildup would cause a “Check Engine” light to come on.
I know someone who went to Berkeley and from the day I first met her, I’ve always felt like something was off about her. Some days, I seriously think that chick is gonna snap like a wishbone.
I know a lot of people are making jokes on this thread...but it’s a scary world out there for employers. Between problem with employees, customers, state/local/federal governments, regulations, costs, etc., it’s amazing that anyone wants to start a business.
Scary looking dude.
English Major. ;)
It’s not called BEZERKLEY without reason.
Regarding ‘In and Out Burger’ - - -
Have one a mile from us. I ask for ‘crispy, or well done fries’ -
Then came ‘Smashburger’ - also about a mile - with their rosemary fries - mmmm.
‘Freddy’s’ about 15 minutes from me here in Ventura County, CA. ‘sokay - WWII Vet who opened the place - heart warming. Ate at one in Colorado.
Best of all is the nearby ‘The Habit.’ with add-ins such as bacon, avocado - yum! Have no idea how far and wide they may be.
WAIT - just remembered ‘Texas Cattle Company’ - very good burgers.
You can have Texas Cattle Company (which I’ve never heard of), if you’ll give me Tommy’s!!
...but I’m not naive, my grandchildren will be lucky to see a Tommy’s in Houston, in their lifetimes.
He heard he is being laid off because he is NOT worth $15/hour.
Too far away from their distribution center and Houston area leadership has been hostile.
He could have... He should just waited for his raise...
A ‘double-double’? Really? How professional.
I wonder about these young Obomunists now graduating from college. I have a science degree in 1997. I worked 3 jobs during my days in school and took two years off to work in order to pay for it so all in all it took me 7 1/2 years to complete the course of study. I got a job in research and worked for and received advanced certifications in my field. when the present administration came to power the industry shut down here and moved out of the country. Now I work the desk at a local hotel and work the production line at a jams and jellies company. I make about one third of what I did but this is all that's available to me under the obama economy.
Those graduating today will face the same economy where burger flipping may be all they can get for work and they have thousands in loans to pay off. It's no wonder that a few of them "snap"
Remind me to pass over all UC Berkeley applicants when interviewing people.
I personally am trying hard to become a bugger flipper flipper. If I can become a bugger flipper flipper, my life goal will have been reached. O! How I long to be a bugger flipper flipper.
All of us want to be a bugger flipper flipper.
Perhaps.
But they can always become a bugger flipper flipper.
“Too far away from their distribution center and Houston area leadership has been hostile”
Say what? We are well within their range. I certainly see the special interests lining up against them, as they clean the clocks of their competitors when they do show up, but I doubt that Dallas would have been any friendlier.
Not to mention that there are a lot of counties and cities in the Houston area - I doubt they all lined up against them.
...or perhaps they’re scared of 5 Guys. LOL!
No, Houston is still too far away, per what INO management have said. They simply do not currently have the resources at the Dallas facility to service what they have now plus support a Houston venture. What I think they’re going to do is slowly expand in that direction, down I-45 etc., and add transport and throughput capability incrementally as needed. It isn’t a bad plan.
