My father’s 55 Chevy was the car I regularly drove in high school, when he let me. He bought it used. He bought a new 57 Chevy Belair 4-door hard top and drive it for several years.

My favorite was the 58 Bel air because that was my first car. A V-8 engine with very rapid acceleration, it was fun to drive when you're 17.

We had a 56 six cylinder. Three speed on the column.
It was a bit of a lemon but it did look nice.

Classic. Whoever designed them should win the Nobel for Car Design. Haven't seen a manifold like the red one shown -- anyone know what's the story with that?
Remember these:

Remember theseOf course. I also remember the kits costly $2 ea. Now they're $22.00 and up! And, yes, some stores still carry them. And the boxes look new. Don't know if the manufacturers are still making them or not.

I owned a 55, you didn’t even need a key when I got it second hand, the ignition lock just turned by hand.
It was at a time when some of us left the keys in our cars at night anyway and only rolled up the windows for rain and in the winter.

I was definitely born a few decades too late.
Those cars are exquisite to behold.
