Who: Bowling Alone author, Robert D. Putnam,
When: yesterday, May 14th, 2015
Where: at a T.B. Fordham (education think tank) event promoting his latest book, The American Dream in Crisis,
What: stated the following, Theres a presidential candidate who yesterday quoted me as saying that therefore, hes quoting me as saying, all black men are sexual predators. Im not going to say who it is http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpsfmR2uHvU 23:06
This morning, May 15, 2015, at 6:30 PDT, a Bing search on Robert Putnam all black men are sexual predators returns at the top a Newsmax article (http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Rick-Santorum-sexual-predators-father-children/2015/05/13/id/644450/), Santorum Slams Men Having Kids With Multiple Women,
which in turn refers to an item first reported by Buzz Feed (http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/rick-santorum-men-who-father-children-with-multiple-women-ar?utm_term=4ldqpia#.ncep5jwyn), Rick Santorum: Men Who Father Children With Multiple Women Are Sexual Predators
A word search for black on either article does not return a result.
Why this is important: as seen just before the remark about Santorum, Putnam states he is a progressive. A progressive makes a claim about a statement purportedly made by a conservative presidential candidate, conveniently omitting the name, using a phrase easily searched. Theres a term for this, its called lying.
Not really surprised if Santorum said this or something close enough to be so attributed. He is a fanatical idiot, maybe harsh, but Santorum is unlikeable and an opportunist—running for president last time claiming to be a Pennsylvania resident, for example, while living in a multi-million dollar mansion next door to Newt in northern Virginia. Anyway, the whole matter you reference is rather confusingly presented so hard to tell what is really being claimed. Santorum, though, will surely say something to get the ire up of people and embarrass the GOP.
Santorum may be everything you say he is, but he did not say,”All black men are sexual predators.”
Robert D. Putnam is painting all conservatives with the same paint roller. It matters because the paint bleeds over onto whoever you may be supporting.
Agreed.
The way this post is written makes is appear that Santorum is claiming that the author said it.
The Who is author Robt Putnam. The What is the following:
What: stated the following, Theres a presidential candidate who yesterday quoted me as saying that therefore, hes quoting me as saying, all black men are sexual predators
Well, let’s focus on the core issue of this article:
Are Black men predators, culturally?
Or is there another component?
Now that we’ve unlocked DNA there will be lots of politically incorrect surprises in the next few years.
I respect your opinion, but the headline says otherwise.
Whether or not black men are sexual predators is not mine to say. But Robert D. Putnam, a well-know author, has no problem putting those words in Rick Santorum’s mouth. That, to me, is the core issue.
Interesting to listen to Putnam. He’s basically starting his talk with the same sort of data that Charles Murray works with. I’m only about 14 minutes in, but I know he’ll advance to very different conclusions than Murray and you and I do.
“He is a fanatical idiot, maybe harsh...”
I think you are more likely close to idiocy.
So if I understand this correctly, Santorum said “Men Who Father Children With Multiple Women Are Sexual Predators”, but this guy decided to attribute to him falsely that “All black men are sexual predators”?
So this writer reflexively though of black males on his own based on that statement (because he must think this apparently), and then dishonestly made it seem like Santorum did, in order to make some fictitious point that he is a “racist”...even though the writer is the one that thought it first?
BTW, the Santorum slander—if indeed, as I expect, Santorum didn’t somehow say what he claims elsewhere—with some context is from roughly 21:00.
Here is both a clip of the Santorum statement that, undoubtedly, Putnam’s claim comes from. Clearly, Santorum is referencing Putnam and his highlighting the rise of unwed mothers. But the clip is of the leftist “Young Turks” show, in which the woman, especially, trashes the relevance of the decline of marriage. It’ll really get your blood going:

My first thought after watching the clip was I’d love to get him and Murray into a room together. Murray would eat him for lunch.
So if I understand this correctly, Santorum said Men Who Father Children With Multiple Women Are Sexual Predators, but this guy decided to attribute to him falsely that All black men are sexual predators?
Correct.
Yep, it got my blood going.
Please elaborate on what you are saying.
Just found this...
It’s on! I’m betting on Murray.
Ha ha—great, thanks!
Looks like it’s a home game for Murray.
