A substitute teacher at an elementary school in Phoenix is under investigation and facing possible assault charges after slamming a student to the ground after calling him a nigger.
The entire affair at Bernard Black Elementary was caught on students cell-phone cameras, and that footage was later acquired by a local Fox news station: (At site)
In the video, the teacher, Brett Russell, is seen resisting an eighth-grade student who appears to be pushing up against him, before abruptly grabbing the boy and throwing him to the ground, hard. Its unclear what started the altercation or why Russell used such sudden force, although the boy has apparently already admitted to calling him a nigger during the confrontation.
The boys mother says she wants the teacher sent to prison.
I dont care what words come out of a childs mouth, no one should ever put their hands on a child like that, she told Fox 10. I want to press charges against him. I want him arrested.
You do everything to protect your kids, and you dont send them to school thinking they are going to get hurt, she said. Thank God my son was okay. He could have hit his head, he could have gotten a concussion.
Thus far, however, the police are still investigating the matter, and the Roosevelt School District has refused to comment on whether Russell will remain employed by them.
“Slamming”
I was expecting a WWF move. Pretty weak.
Sorry, but this right wing conservative thinks the student got just a small portion of what he deserved.

Maybe if someone had, he wouldn’t have gotten slammed.
The kid is going to end up with a bullet in him and the mom is to blame.
Didn’t watch the vid, but if the student was initiating force by “pushing against him”,
he has a right to stop that aggression against his person.
From the title, I expected some hot-head to have reacted violently to a word. Not the case, it seems.
Wait a minute. Just the other day, we were told that drawing cartoons was ‘provocative.’ Shouldn’t using that kind of language be the same?
Was the father “unavailable for comment”?
I understand the need of faculty to maintain the respect of students, but there’s no reason a guy that much larger than the student needs to use that kind of force, no matter what the kid said.
Thug
I respectfully disagree. I'd have the student caned after the fact for assaulting a teacher AND have you caned as well if you opened your mouth to utter one more complaint about it.
Instead of being rewarded for bastards,
“single moms” like this should experience some social consequences.
We’d have less bastards that way.
Sorry but sound like the kid was be a smart ass punk.. and needed his ass kicked.. im supporting the teacher unless i see some new details.
pushing against him
That’s assault.

Well played.
I’m with the teacher on this one. An 8th grader assaults him, down goes the kid. No one hurt but a little $h!t learned a bit of respect, or fear which works just as well.
(BTW- How's the weather in Singapore today.) ... Caned?!
Good on the teacher...Don’t put up with that crap regardless of who is which race...

Chris Cuomo will read this story and have only one thing to say: Chaplinsky.
Expel the punk and leave the teacher alone, in my day that is exactly what would of happened, plus a swat maybe and a call home, which is the last thing we ever wanted.
This broad should be thrown out of the city with her attitude.
