Mayweather VS Pacquiao LIVE THREAD
I didn’t really care who won, I’m still mad at Manny for campaigning Harry Reid, and Mayweather is a jerk’s jerk or even a jerk’s jerk’s jerk. ;p
Staunch Manny fans like Skip Bayliss are saying Manny won. I would have liked a KO from either guy to put any hand-wringing to bed. But I think it was pretty clear, I don’t see how anyone could give Mayweather less than 7 rounds.
What I really hate is that because of abundance of organizations, there still is not a an undisputed champion at this or any other weight class. That’s something that boxing needs to make a comeback.
Was there even one real power punch in this fight??
I don’t think so.
The most $$$$$$$ fight ever and this is it??
Wow I didn’t know Manny Campaign for Harry Reid
I don’t think there was any chance of a KO on Manny’s part.
(I kept wanting him to slow down, quit dancing so much, and be a little more tactical...)
Oh, Well; let’s go home.

Thanks for the thread, Manic! Have a happy what’s left of the weekend!
Boring fight. Had to go watch a replay of the Hearns-Hagler fight from 1985 to get the bad taste out of my mouth.
Yeah

Bob Arum is a huge Reid guy, that probably had something to do with it.
And he backed Jerry Brown as well.
There were a lot power punches from Manny, most of them hit the air, maybe a fly or 2 got KOed. ;d
Typical Floyd fight, never that exciting, no one can get through his defense.
Manny should have been more aggressive, but that more likely than not would have led to HIM being knocked out with a counter punch.
Gunga galunga . . . .
lol
I’d rather watch cats box than these 2 stiffs
Big hitter, the Lama.
I don’t follow boxing but I had heard that one of the ciritcisms of Mayweather was that they had held off a number of good fighters for years, waiting to finally fight until they were not at the peak of their game. And that this kind of brush-off tactic was a common gripe with him and that’s part of the reason for his undefeated record.
You need to sober up. I never said anything about the fight being fixed.
Maybe take reading comprehension 101, a freshman class.
I saw one headline asking “Is this boxing’s last hurrah?” That can’t be ruled out.
I'm with you. Not much of a fight.
Was required to take two years of self defense training at Annapolis, including two semesters of boxing. Final exam each semester was to box two 2-minute rounds, a trial. Good thing is, many years later, I still remember the skills. “Wax on, wax off!”
First of all, why was this farce being referred to as the “Fight of the Century? The FOTC occured on March 8th, 1971, just for the record.
Secondly, this fight was only 6 years too late. The Cherry Picker Mayweather waited and waited, pissed and moaned, faked retirement and nearly turned himself into a pretzel in avoiding Pacquiao when the Filipino was at his best. Nothing like watching a potential rival getting brutally ko’ed (by J.M. Marquez) and basically lose to age what made him special....THEN agreeing to fight him. Compare this behavior to Muhammad Ali, emerging from his exile in late 1970, taking on two real tough guys in Quarry and Bonavena and then waiting no later than 3/8/1971 to get in the ring with Smokin Joe Frazier. Ali was a badass, Mayweather is a poser...nothing more.
It’s not boxing’s “last hurrah”....this sport has endured everything thrown at it...and will never die....it’ll eventually outlast that farce of a sport called MMA.
