*sigh* Yet again, no love for Ferde Grofé - The Grand Canyon Suite. A shame, an intense experience to hear it live.

Yes, music doesn’t have to be old to be classical.

I have heard it many times and I like it. Did you notice what place it came in on the list? Interesting, huh? :)

Beethoven’s 9th, Berlin Philharmonic version, Herbert von Karajan conducting...magnificent, especially the 4th movement!

Yes. It’s not unusual for the best film music to make it onto a classical program.
To: Uncle Miltie
So have I. And I agree. Although Faure’s Requiem is a very close third for me.

As I said before, the problem is (somewhat like Tigger), I often decide the piece I happen to be listening to at the moment is my favorite.
Most of the choices mentioned here are orchestral, but I will pick some vocal arrangements. When the artist happens to be beautiful, it often helps me decide.
Here is Elīna Garanča singing
Panis Angelicus by César Franck.
On a somewhat lighter vein, I also recently enjoyed
Du sollst der Kaiser meiner Seele sein by Robert Stolz sung by Angelika Kirshschlager. I also find the love lyrics touching.
