It really is amateur hour at Apple. The tech giants first major product line launch in years has gone badly wrong, with the original in-store sales date scrapped, and no word of when the Apple Watch will actually go on sale for people to, you know, buy.
Sales predictions, and online pre-order numbers look great, but thats about the only thing thats good about the launch of the first new product line to come from Apple under Tim Cooks stewardship. Frankly, everything else associated with the launch has been a balls up from start to finish.
Heres a product that the Cupertino-based company has described as its most personal yet. Its so personal, that the only way you can buy it is online. The least personal shopping experience there is.

I’m not expecting any self-awareness at this point, but here’s the simple breakdown:
1. In an effort to determine if you have any objectivity remaining in you regarding Apple, I ask the simple question, “Has Apple ever done anything wrong? Ever?”
2. You reply that you post negative articles on Apple all the time.
3. I categorically demonstrate through your own posts (last 10) that the only reason you post “negative” articles is to refute them and try and show Apple *hasn’t* done anything wrong.
4. Your response is to double down, even when you are demonstrably incorrect. (Example: The Italian tax issue. Apple has been cleared of nothing. They may be in the future, but - while the investigation has been completed - the decision to take them to trial or not has not been made. This is a fine example of how far gone you are: you take *Apple’s* statement regarding the matter as the conclusion. Apple said they have complied, therefore, they have complied. It remains to be seen if there will be a trial. Even if authorities decide NOT to bring it to trial, you can’t later claim you were right. It’s an example of you losing all objectivity and latching on to the corporate line without any consideration to the actual fact that the case is still open. http://investcorrectly.com/20150324/italy-finishes-apple-inc-aapl-investigation/)
This has nothing to do with my opinion of Apple or anyone else’s, so don’t bother to bring that up. This is not about FUD. This is about your complete mental inability to see fault in Apple under any circumstances. I know this won’t register with you because I think you are too far gone, but Apple has clearly become your sinless corporate god.
Your ad hominem attack on their ceo not withstanding, you really don’t understand business.
Apple is a virtually debt free company, with not only the highest market capitalization of any U.S. Company, but enough cash on hand that it literally could not take in 1 more dollar in revenues and pay all its bills and employees for another decade and still have cash left over.
As to non diversified I wonder how you figure that, Apple lnot only created two new consumer market segments in just over a decade it completely disrupted 2 industries in that same time and in case you hadn’t noticed just put itself into a position where a cut of every consumer credit card transaction by anyone using their devices.
Single product company? You truly have never bothered to look at an apple sec filing if you think they are a single product or single revenue stream company.
You may not care for the politics of their executives but your little rant is just well to quote a pop song “haters gonna hate hate hate hate”
More than a phone? Lets see - MacBook Pros still selling very well.
MacPros, the cream-of-the crop - still selling.
New MacBooks - even with the idiocy of a single port for EVERYTHING... selling.
iPads - selling like hotcakes (just bought one myself, after having my fill of Android update HELL).
iPods (personally don’t see the need with an iPhone).
Wildly successful iTunes store for apps, music, movies, etc. Check
So - where’s the limited product line?
Apple seems to have successfully stuffed XServer down a memory hole.
You have no idea what you are talking about. . . in fact you are totally misinformed. Apple is NOT a single product company, Up Yours Marxists. Nor is anyone at Apple touting the watch as the "end all be all" for Apple. . . and you description of Apple as a "listless, non-diversified single product corporation" misses the aim by a country mile. I do agree with the militant queer comment. . . but not the "hippy" part. He looks more buttoned down Preppy than hippy. The only thing missing is the cardigan sweater thrown over his shoulders.
As for Apple being a single product company, that' only in your and adorno's only in your Reality Distortion Field imagination. He made this claim in an earlier thread this year. Here is a partial list of Apple's current products and service that generate revenue:
Apple received just last quarter of 2014:
None of these data point to a single product company. There are many companies out there who would love to have any one of the non-phone segments of Apple's business.
It has the exact same water resistance as the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear S. OK for weather exposure and hand washing and showers, but not for swimming.
There are companies who would LOVE to be the kind of FAILURE that you say Apple is ... :-) ...
You’re right Swordmaker ... and I am amazed, at times, to see some of these presentations of who Apple is, which matches absolutely nothing that I’ve ever seen over the years. I’m trying to figure out how this sort of “picture” of Apple can come about. Is there some sort of website out there that is putting up this sort of thing and then several posters come here and repeat that?! ... LOL ...
It is quite interesting that you note that Apple is keeping the production volume low ... considering that in the very first weekend when sales were opened up, Apple had over ONE MILLION units in volume ... while ... for the entire year of 2014, ALL the other manufacturers combined (for Smartwatches) had 700,000 units sold!
AND IN ADDITION ... in the week following that first weekend, Apple DOUBLED its sales, blowing way past all the other manufacturers combined for the entire year last year.
That’s quite AMAZING for them “holding back” ... :-) ...
1. My answer is yes. You ignored that. . . and have every time I have said it, glossing over it. However, if there is an explanation for an article that is incorrectly citing history, I will correct it. YOU count that as being biased. That is being biased on the side of accuracy, YOU prefer the myths and inaccuracies that have been promulgated over the years that have been accepted as FACTS when they are not. I shoot them down with truth. You don't like your pet myths being de-mythologized. Sorry, but any true believer doesn't like his religion denied.
2. You reply that you post negative articles on Apple all the time.
2. See above. I have posted numerous negative articles about Apple. In fact, I had posted the one from Boy Genius Reports entitled "Apple just publicly acknowledged the mess it made with its Apple Watch roll out" (they really had not, but BGR reported a leaked internal memo that I had already posted earlier as somehow being a "pubic" admission), the same article you later used as an example as proof of the current threads validity, and as negative article, but some Anti-Apple hate Brigade member hit the abuse button on the article, and the Admin Moderator deleted the entire thread, with the comment "Using FR as a marketing tool for apple. Use your own website". obviously neither one of them had even bothered to READ THE ARTICLE to learn that it was a negative article about Apple and hardly "advertising" Apple products!
I even posted a vanity about the negative experience I was having after upgrading to iOS 8 on both my iPhone and iPad. . . but you missed that. I also honestly reported that not all other upgraders to iOS 8 were not experiencing the same problems I was experiencing.
However, lately I have not had to find and post negative articles about Apple because you anti-Apple people have been doing an excellent job of finding them and posting them. I do not discriminate against your articles and decline to ping the group to them, do I? No. But some of the Anti-Apple people who post those articles carefully avoid pinging me to them . . . and then complain later in the thread that I have NOT pinged the list.
Some of the anti-Apple brigade have attacked me for even doing pinging the list to "their" threads, accusing me of "calling my acolytes" to attack them and naysay to article. They look on my Pinging the Freepers who are interested in Apple as an ATTACK on them and the article. Patently absurd. They then proceed to attack ME for never posting negative articles and claiming they have to do it because I don't. If I comment factually on their article, rebutting it with links to proof, I am only a deluded mentally ill fanboi posting lies from sources equally deluded and mentally ill.
3. I categorically demonstrate through your own posts (last 10) that the only reason you post negative articles is to refute them and try and show Apple *hasnt* done anything wrong.
3. I categorically demonstrate through your own posts (last 10) that the only reason you post negative articles is to refute them and try and show Apple *hasnt* done anything wrong.
i post articles because they are of interest to the members of the Ping list and for no other reason. If I have an opinion on the factuality of that article I will comment on it. I am entitled to an opinion and an editorial comment. This is a free forum to make comments.
You categorically demonstrated nothing except your ability to look at 10 of my own posts. . . to which I showed my comments were accurate. YOU disagreed with my take on the articles which is your right, but YOU do not want ME to have the right to comment or have an opinion at all. I stand by my opinion because I have experience, knowledge, and research to back up what I say. . . and that is proved by the evidence and links I post. I always EXPLAIN my position contrary to the opposition who merely throw myths and brickbats. You included. I have seen very few links backing your arguments. Can i make a mistake or be wrong? Yes. When I do or when I am wrong, I apologize or correct the error.
4. Your response is to double down, even when you are demonstrably incorrect.
4. Of course I back my own opinion. Do you think I would suddenly say, "Oh, my god, bolobaby, I don't know what I was talking about! I am a complete idiot! I am deluded and you are right in everything you say!"? This is a form of straw man you put up so that everyone can say, oh, look bolobaby is right! Swordmaker didn't agree that bolobaby was right! I have many life experiences that allow me to make judgements on these issues, reading between the lines and make conclusions. I bring them to bear on my editorial opinion commentary. I am NOT a news reporter on FreeRepublic and the standard is completely different.
If i hold Apple in a high esteem, and I do, it is based on my experience and knowledge of their past operations and ethics. Have they made bad decisions in the past? Yes. Have they made them for evil purposes? Not that I have seen. Has Steve Jobs acted like a jerk and rudely. You bet. Did he act illegally and dishonorably to his friends and suppliers in the past. No doubt about it. . . but he learned you don't do that and be trusted. Those were life lessons that made Jobs and Apple into an ethical, honest, and successful company.
If I hold Apple's products in high regard, and I do, it is because of 35 plus years of working on multiple computer platforms, and multiple phone systems, and the Apple gear is by far the best with the least problems I have worked with. My work is professional level with multiple businesses and mostly involves Windows.
This has nothing to do with my opinion of Apple or anyone elses, so dont bother to bring that up. This is not about FUD. This is about your complete mental inability to see fault in Apple under any circumstances. I know this wont register with you because I think you are too far gone, but Apple has clearly become your sinless corporate god.
You are not qualified to make a diagnosis my mental state. . . and again you are making a prolonged, complicated, insulting ad hominem attack on me for the purpose of denigrating me and my opinions. He who uses ad hominem loses the argument. As I told you, the members of the Ping list appreciate my commentary.
Did you even notice that another technically oriented Freeper JOINED the list because of my response to you, agreeing that I know what I am talking about?
YOU LOSE, Dr. Sigmund Arrogant Freud.
Have a good rest of the weekend.
By Apple standards, production levels of the new Apple Watch is low, because even Apple knows the device is not for everyone. It’s not the iPhone, the gold standard for cellphones.
Swordmaker ... people should realize by now that you’re very scrupulous in your presentation of the facts and your references.
And, even though I’m one of those who have Apple products and think they are the best around ... you have never shied away from correcting some errors on my part. And I’ve had no objections to that and have appreciated you doing so ... because I want to make sure what we, as Apple users ... say ... is accurate. You do a very good job of that ... even right in the middle of a PACK OF LIES being thrown at you about Apple Products.
You would think that - by now - those who continually throw out the lies about Apple would get tired of being continually slapped down in their intentional lies ... but “no” ... they are amazingly obsessive in doing so!
If they would only do so, obsessively, about conservative political issues, they could single-handedly “turn this country around” without anyone else helping! ... LOL ...
Yes, people realize all there is to know about Swordmaker. So much so, they mock him on completely unrelated threads.

When you’ve become a running gag outside your clique, that’s something to be proud of, I guess.
I was just trying to help people realize how they’ve publicly presented themselves, but enjoy your Apple love fest echo chamber. I guess you win. Apple threads are officially *off-limits* to anyone who may want to question the corporate line. Got it.
No, If there is such a site, I have yet to find it. What you see here is the experience of a lifetime from an Economist and an ex-CEO who knows how to do research and crunch numbers. In other words, how to do basic research and compile accurate data and present it in a comprehensive quick picture, understandable to anyone.
A couple of minor corrections to your numbers, Star. Apple sold 1.23 million Apple Watches in the UNITED STATES in the first hour. . . but they were also selling in 12 other countries including China, Japan, Canada, and some European countries whose numbers are not included in that 1.23 million. An additional 1.3 million is estimated to have also been sold in that first hour in those countries. Apple continued selling pre-orders for the entire weekend and on into the week. No one except Apple knows how many Apple Watches were ordered during the week and are continuing to be sold. . . but in that first hour alone, the 2.5 million Apple Watches that were apparently ear-marked for delivery on April 24th were sold-out in the first TEN MINUTES! The demand for the Apple Watch has been phenomenal!
There is no evidence of Apple holding anything back. . . and there never has been any evidence of such holding back on product releases to "generate demand." It has always been obvious that there is a tidal wave of demand for Apple products before any Apple product release. There has never been any need to gin up demand.
from the behavior of some Freepers on Apple threads, I am amazed that they are conservatives. They act like Carville liberals.
Wow! Those numbers are more amazing than I originally thought. Thanks for clarifying!
