Buried Mars Glaciers are Brimming With Water
discovery.com ^ | Irene Klotz

Radar images previously revealed thousands of buried glacier-like formations in the planet’s northern and southern hemispheres.

That data has now been incorporated into computer models of ice flow to determine the glaciers’ size and hence how much water they contain.

“We have looked at radar measurements spanning 10 years back in time to see how thick the ice is and how it behaves. A glacier is, after all, a big chunk of ice and it flows and gets a form that tells us something about how soft it is. We then compared this with how glaciers on Earth behave and from that we have been able to make models for the ice flow,” she said.

“We have calculated that the ice in the glaciers is equivalent to over 150 billion cubic meters of ice — that much ice could cover the entire surface of Mars with 1.1 meters (3.6 feet) of ice,”

Really?

The Valles Marineris is 2,500 miles long and as deep as 36,000 feet.

How many cubic meters would fit in there?

If these glaciers are in the order of magnitude as this paper asserts, then they have a high probability of harbor some form of life.

If we find some form of life in these ice formations, then we can be certain that life is abundant throughout the cosmos. Such a discovery will be the greatest achievement of mankind and will be, for myself, a great affirmation of my Christian faith.

This seems to be a widely held understanding, but speaking just for myself, I just don't see it as all that important. Makes me feel dense.

That would be kind of sad, to have the entire Universe laid out before us and the most significant thing we ever did was find some mold on the nearest planet.

If the life is similar, skeptics will say it started on Earth and was transferred. And we would have no proof either way. So not much of a discovery.

Now if a comet older than the Earth comes here from deep deep space and we find life. Then that is a story...

Until we were able to provide verifiable evidence of extra solar system planets, they lived only in the domain of science fiction. Logic and understanding told us that they existed, but we could not put them up on the scoreboard until we had satisfied our scientific methods. Planets are being discovered in their thousands and thousands every day and year. Are some of they host to life? Of course, but until we can provide scientific proof in a verifiable fashion, it will remain science fiction. If Mars can produce the real homerun, then it will occur in my lifetime. Exciting.

In respect, you are thinking along a very narrow line of reasoning.

We the people are being prepped for the disclosure. It will come in drips and drabs when it starts because the powers that be who have been lying for so long cannot afford to have full disclosure.

Not narrow enough to declare the final results before the race is run.

Seems like that never works out like it was planned.

They really have no choice. All scenarios that start with full disclosure fall short of actual full disclosure because they will not prosecute themselves for their treachery. And the oil oligarchs will not allow disclosure that reaches ‘new energy sources’ such as tapping the zero point field.

Information is a difficult thing to control. Two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead.
