Lucille Balls hometown, just outside Jamestown in western New York, erected a life-size statue to honor the beloved actress but now it has some explaining to do.
Many take issue with the sculptors unflattering depiction of the I Love Lucy star.
A self-described big fan of Lucys from Jamestown thinks the statue needs to be replaced with one befitting the comedy legend.
Lucille Ball was not only an amazing comedienne, but she was a stunning beauty. Her sense of humor only made her more beautiful, he said in an interview with Yahoo News. This statue looks nothing like the beautiful Lucy we all know. If for no other reason than that... the statue should go.
The Jamestown man, who wishes to remain anonymous, started a Facebook page titled We Love Lucy! Get Rid of this Statue.

"Over 120 commissioned public sculptures to date."
Here's another woman:
Hmm.
Definitely. She pretty much ran Paramount Studios for a long time and had her hands in lots of projects.
So in other words, a Democrat.

Thanks for the link (#71).
If you took one hundred people who watched tv back in the fifties and asked them to identify that statue, I’ll bet not more than one or two would say Lucille Ball. Not even close.
Looks more like Ricky in drag. Seriously.
Aw, man. Don’t get me started.
Good call on the earlobes.
Are you talking about "I Love Lucy" series ?
My word, that show was pure comic genius...
The comic timing, the facial expressions, the interaction between the actors...
I think you will find the female comics today on T.V. look to Lucy for inspiration...
Darned if that doesn’t look just like her. I’m guessing the artist might be a little pricier to commission than the Lucille Ball sculptor guy.
I guess most people agree with you as the show was really popular. Personally I didn’t particularly like it.
I remember my Mother saying that it was silly. I thought Fred and Ethel were the real funny ones.
I also did not think she was that attractive. That is why I was so surprised to see the old black and white movie with her. She looked great back then.
My mom was her doppleganger when my mom met her at while mom worked bullocks wilshire they both got a big kick out of one another and Mrs Ball darn near bought out the store
It looks like Scarlett Johanson.
All bottled redheads look the same to chinamen!
Yes, I remember the show, as I grew up in the 1950s. Stupid.
As for today’s comediennes, I don’t think much of most of them either.
