Lucille Balls hometown, just outside Jamestown in western New York, erected a life-size statue to honor the beloved actress but now it has some explaining to do.
Many take issue with the sculptors unflattering depiction of the I Love Lucy star.
A self-described big fan of Lucys from Jamestown thinks the statue needs to be replaced with one befitting the comedy legend.
Lucille Ball was not only an amazing comedienne, but she was a stunning beauty. Her sense of humor only made her more beautiful, he said in an interview with Yahoo News. This statue looks nothing like the beautiful Lucy we all know. If for no other reason than that... the statue should go.
The Jamestown man, who wishes to remain anonymous, started a Facebook page titled We Love Lucy! Get Rid of this Statue.

The statue is hideous! Look at Lucy in one of her early films. A stunner!

That doesn't even look like her.

Hideous clown statue. She looked nothing like that. Even her chest: the statue looks like she’s sagging with no bra. On the show, Lucy had those 1950s bras that came to perfect points.

Flattering statues don’t show teeth or open mouths.

Is that it? Makes her look like a drunken street person with a flask of whiskey.

That's true. You didn't tend to notice her beauty because of her zany, comedic persona, but if you look at her early "cheesecake" photos, she was very attractive and had great legs.

I too saw her in one of her early B&W films and was surprised just how beautiful she was.
I have also read that she was once a real hard core Commie.

The “artist” was a blind, drunk, deranged psychopath. Tis positively ghastly.

Dang, that looks more like Joe DiMaggio than Lucille Ball.

That is a bottle of “Veda Vita Vegeman” in her hand. The episode was “Lucy Makes a Commercial.” You should watch it. You will laugh your a** off.

To: windcliff
It’s absolutely hideous. The mayor probably got some sort of kickback. Follow the money... always.

I recall the skit the statue references but the statue doesn’t look at all like her.

I read that it was her grandfather who was a Commie. Lucy registered as one to please him.
