Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states launched airstrikes against rebel forces in Yemen’s capital and across the country in defense of what Riyadh called the nation’s legitimate government.
The attacks began Thursday morning, hours after Yemen’s president, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, fled the southern port city of Aden by boat when Iranian-backed Houthi militants closed in.
The decision by Saudi Arabia and the region’s Sunni monarchies to intervene on Mr. Hadi’s behalf raises the stakes in their rivalry with predominantly Shiite Iran, which has raged in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in the region. The raids also risked further inflaming sectarian tensions that al Qaeda and other jihadist groups in Yemen stand to exploit.
In an added layer of complexity, the intervention comes ahead of a Tuesday deadline for Iran to reach a deal with the U.S. and other powers in Switzerland on Tehran’s nuclear program.

On a side note, I think it's funny that Al-Qaeda is using weaponry that's identical to that which the Saudis are using. Well... not funny for the U.S. taxpayer, but it's never funny for THEM.
Iran is very upset that Sunni Saudi Arabia is attacking their Shi’ite brethren in Yemen. Shooting could break out between Iran and Saudi Arabia. If it did would not be surprised to see jets with Saudi markings attack Iran’s heavy water plant and its nuclear centrifuges. However the pilots may speak only limited Arabic with a very distinctive accent.
Iran is smart enough not to take on everyone at once.
Yeah, I hope those markings on the plans don’t fall off. That could be embarrassing.

I thought Saudi Arabia was majority Sunni?
The Houthi are Shiites.
That said, what both of these groups hate more than anything is the US and the West.
But I think the Saudis are being pragmatic, because the rich want to stay rich, and they are a nation state...which Obama has been busy destroying. And they know it and don’t want Bambi to think he’s going to be the new caliph on the ruins of their state.
Obama wants to get close to Shiite Iran, mostly because it hates the US more overtly than any other place, but at the same time, he’s a Sunni (99% of Indonesia, where he was brought up and which has the largest Muslim population in the world,is Sunni). So he may be a little conflicted on this one.
With cyanide pills incase they get shot down.
Obama has caused ABSOLUTE HAVOC in the Middle East and EVERYONE is mad at him!
