Twice since last summer Mr. Mercat and I have returned from trips where the logically route is through St. Louis and west on I-70. We’ve gone out of our way both times to avoid it so my guess is that this is impacting not only Ferguson but the entire region.

The “Riot Corridors” in DC, created by the 1968 MLK Jr riots, have only started coming back in the last 10 years or so. And thats because gentrification (which is despised) is pushing into them.
Looking at a map, Ferguson is eff’d. Royally. There’s simply no chance of new growth from other bordering areas pushing into and through it, and thanks to the rep there’s not much of a chance of it being rebuilt from the middle outward.
