A return to basics is overdue 1. Re-institute Glass-Stegall deprecating commercial banks from investment banks 2. Break up the top five banks into smaller regional institutions 3. Remove financing competition like Fnmae Gnmae Freddie Mac and similar agencies 4. Increase the reserve requirement by 20 percent
Perhaps the tests are not of financial viability but of political reliability.
The mere existence of a “stress test” is sufficient blackmail to keep the banks in line.....oh....and pay “fines” whenever demanded.
Darn, and I thought it was our altruistic federal government actually looking out for Americans.
