Missan, 29, may be the worlds oldest cat, according to its Swedish owner who says that aside from suffering from some minor back and kidney problems, there is no reason why her furry friend won't make it to the grand age of 30.
Missan the Swedish farm cat is turning 30 this spring and may be the world oldest living cat. By far.
I read an article about another cat that was supposed to be the worlds oldest, and I just thought to myself: mine is older!, Missans owner Åsa Wickberg, from Karlskoga, told the TT news agency.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Poppy from Britain was listed as the worlds oldest cat last year at the age of 24.
Wickberg said she found Missan as an abandoned kitten in 1985, with the family dog quickly adopting her as one of her own.
Shes a bit of a loner, and has always been a bit shy and a little cautious. But she likes dogs. She takes to them very quickly.
Although Missans age has somewhat taken its toll on her, with some back and kidney problems, it has been nothing that some cortisone and new eating habits havent been able to fix.
Wickberg is convinced Missan will make it to the age of 30.
It feels highly likely, she said.

That’s a really ooooooooooooooooooolllllllllllllllddddddddddddddddd cat!
I had a cat that made it to 18. Sis had one that made it to 21.
My daughter would like to hear this...she is in denial and refuses to believe our cat will eventually die. We are a little unsure of the cat’s age...but at least 18.
That face shows the experience and travails of an extreme old warrior.
Aye! He's seen it all.
LOL and he’s got that look like: get it over with already - will ya, geez these people just yammer on and on...
My friend had a cat that lived to 21 years old. He was still chasing balls around the house up until 2 days before he died.
I think our pets are living longer thanks to better diets and advances in veterinary care. Many of the discoveries in human medicine have been applied successfully to our critters too.
From the article, “Age has taken it’s toll on her... nothing that some cortisone and better eating hasn’t cured”. WE should all be that lucky!
My folks had two orange litter mates that made it to 19 and 20 - Billy and Stubby. There are many claims on the web for cats in their 30’s - hard to prove.
We have a 22 yr old siamese. She’ll be 23 in Dec. She can still make it to her food bowl and uses the litter box. Her vision is fading and her back legs have a bit of arthritis. Don’t expect her to make it much longer but I said that when she turned 20. /;o) ~
She looks thirty.
Oh Slings and Arrows, the article in question has been posted. Please PING! Thank-you! :) =^..^=
Siamese are one of the longest living cats.
My Siamese made it to 18 but developed an untreatable problem and I had to have it put down.
My wife and I would get another pet, but at our age they will outlive us and we don't really have a relative that could take them in.
So I have wild squirrels and birds that I feed daily, and they go home at night. - Tom
Nice kitteh.
Long live the Swede cat!
Pretty, wise looking kitty! Long, long life for an outdoor cat, too.
I’ve always adopted adult shelter cats-except for my 7yr. old orange mostly-Persian, Titus-I fostered him as a 2 month old kitten for the shelter, and we just could not let him go to someone else.
I’ve adopted cats as old as 14, and a few who were not going to live a long life because of past injury-I provide them with a safe, indoor life, food, toys, love, 2 or three other cats to be with, and my cat loving Siberian Husky to curl up to in Winter. My cats live to be 18-20 on the average, and I had one live to be 22. My Husky is 16 and still chases squirrels-that Cosamine they advertise on TV works...
Thank-you! :) =^..^=
De nada, chica.
