Some of us remember America of fifty years ago. Vastly, vastly different than what we see now.
In your opinion, what will America be in another fifty years?
It took a Jimmah Cahtah to give us the Gipper.
It will look like Dodger Stadium after a doubleheader with the Giants.
Or we could have that civil war with the military breaking up or at least not siding completely with the Sultanate and a breakup into several separate Nations. Only the second alternative would maintain the USA as a major mover int he World. The rest would invite the wannabe empires of Russia and China and Islam to try to swoop in on us.
2. Southern states will be part of Mexico.
3. Russia will own Alaska and will be exploiting its oil resources.
4. The remainder of the country will be controlled by various islamic clans or bands of pro-Democracy pioneers with skirmishes over resources being commonplace.
Could be a good thing - Hiroshima is now thriving.
A dead civilization with less than third world status. We will be Balkanized into warring sects of different cultures.
Vastly different from fifty years ago? Only someone who wasn’t around fifty years ago would say such a thing. There was television, computers, telephones, cars ....
If you want something vastly different, try the difference between 1910 and 1960.
Watch the TV series Mad Men to see how little has changed in the last fifty years. I don’t see the next fifty as being anywhere near as radically different as 1910-1960.
We are still being torn apart by race riots. Perhaps they just have not arrived in your neighborhood yet.
Gone.
America in fifty years, at this rate, will not exist.
Hawaii will be taken over by China.
California and other parts of the Southwest will either be an independent Hispanic state complete with Aztlan-sponsored ethnic cleansing or it will be part of Mexico.
Texas will be independent again.
The US military will be second rate. Maybe even third rate.
China will dominate the mining and manufacturing sectors and the remainder of the US will be subject to a mercantilism relationship with China.
Or we could elect a conservative next year and see this country prosper through the end of the century.
If continuing on this path … destruction, or at least becoming one of the weakest countries in the world.
I’m 61 and have been a huge follower of technology and science fiction. I feel like I live in the future.
