Sheldrake is a loon.

I am not defending TED. They had to have known who Sheldrake is before they let him be a TED Talker.

Bookmarked to view later.

I have enjoyed a number of TED talks, but this type of censorship is inexcusable.

Quite looney.

His stuff is a form of new age or neo-pagan type of beliefs about energy fields of some sort explicated in a pseudo-scientific context.

They didn't censor it, they moved the video from the TEDx YouTube channel to the TED blog.

It isn't censorship; TED is protecting their brand. If they're seen giving a voice to a quack, what's next? Alien abduction and moon landing hoax experts? Serious people would stop watching.

Shedrake thinks the Times Sunday Crossword puzzle is easier to solve on tuesday than on sunday because by tuesday, so many people have solved it that the correct answers are floating in the ether.

So far it seems that it's more about rejecting/questioning the materialistic philosophy.

“It isn’t censorship; TED is protecting their brand. If they’re seen giving a voice to a quack, what’s next? Alien abduction and moon landing hoax experts? Serious people would stop watching.”

TED, to my mind, let’s plenty quacks have a voice. Maybe not as whacky as Sheldrake.

If it’s not government or acting on behalf of government, it’s not censorship. Period.

Not sure what you mean.

He is presenting a new age belief that does reject materialistic science.

It’s very similar to old time pagan pantheistic beliefs where everything that exists has a spirit.

Thanks. I will give it a look and judge for myself.

They are welcome to set standards as long as the standards are applied fairly and consistently.

You are right. They let Deepak Chopra speak, so why not another loon?

I think TED talks are largely silly, but it certainly isn't censorship if they want to change the visibility of one of their videos. It's their property.

Science is NEVER settled, and if the “scientific method” is being applied as it is should, it never shall be. There are only working hypotheses, and when too much evidence accumulates that disproves the hypothesis, a new hypothesis must be postulated, and again put to the test.

Critical thinking is an absolute requirement to make the scientific method work.

Scientism is as much an ideology/religion as “progressivism”.

Warmism is the leading Scientistic sect.

Good example

Apparently Chopra supports Sheldrake and vice versa.

Not really sure what you are getting at, but I agree with your comments, of course.

Sheldrake is the opposite. He comes with his a priori beliefs, which are religious, to fit a scientific veneer over.
