Its not very often that Hollywood unleashes two major theatrical bombs over the same weekend. But thats what happened when Jupiter Ascending and Seventh Son both crashed and burned in U.S. theaters on Friday.
Warner Bros. Jupiter Ascending, starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, is quickly dropping in estimates to a thin $18 million weekend at the box office. With a budget north of $175 million, the Wachowskis sci-fi fantasy tentpole could lose tens of millions barring a dramatic turnaround overseas.

I find it weird that Obama’s low information voters “snubbed” Selma but rushed to the theaters this weekend to see Sponge Bob. That’s insane.
Obviously racism was at play.
I saw theatrical release of Dune in mid 80s near Times Square
Same things
Jeers
People walking out
My girlfriends and I lasted about halfway thru
Walked all the way home up Broadway to Morningside /115th

The sheeple are saving up to see “50 Shades”
Sounds like the massive letdown called Windtalkers.
The critic on Fox said even the special effects in “Jupiter Ascending” looked cheesy.
Theaters don’t accept ebt cards.
What! Dune is classic scifi!!
Isn't one of them a "sister" now?
Must be those movies about gay cowboys eating pudding.
Tainted tapioca no doubt.
Its February, its the time of flops. Generally theres 1 non-flop in February, and thats a Valentines Day chick flick,
Unfortunately it is going to be that soft porn nonsense film 50 shades of grey. Oh how terrible a movie that will be. I am predicting from the side lines because there is no way I am going to see that. Thankfully my wife feels the same way.
The crazy thing is that both Spongebob and Jupiter Arriving beat American Sniper on Friday....What is wrong with America to let that happen......Good grief.
“American Sniper” can’t stay on top forever-—no movie can.
.
I know....how unfortunate.
“Dune” is one of the finest scifi movies ever made. It did an incredible job in capturing the mood and and extremely convoluted story in the book. I’ve seen it several times and have never grown tired of watching it.
“Oh how terrible a movie that will be.”
No doubt, but I predict it will make a fortune anyway as millions of fanatical female readers line up to be titillated by a cheesy, third rate movie made from a cheesy, third rate book.
I saw both and enjoyed both. Seventh Son is a sword and sorcery thing, and Jeff Bridges character is really amusing. Most people don’t like sword and sorcery. If you like Conan the Barbarian you might like Seventh Son.
Jupiter Ascending was fun. It’s like a Spiderman movie, but more interesting. By that I mean it has a lot of special effects, but also postulates a interesting SciFi world.
I think everyone is still seeing American Sniper, so that makes it hard for these.
