There is no moral claim one can make to another to require them to give them food. One can appeal - not demand - on the basis of charity. If charity is a moral obligation one has no way to refuse, it’s not charity. That’s confiscation.

This omniscient Argentinean pope as been very prompt to criticize U.S. and the capitalist system, but thanks to them the famines have disappeared of the world. Remember the millions that used to die by starvation in India and China. The “green revolution”, created and sponsored by U.S., was the most important contribution in the war against hunger. Certainly there is hunger in the world, but it is mostly due to corrupt tyrannical rulers and by socialist schemes that always end in complete failure. Political and economic freedom is the main locomotives that move economies and bring prosperity for all.
End world hunger. Feed the obese to the starving.
If the US used its corn as a food instead of as ethanol and HFCS, problem solved. Perhaps the Vatican could pay for it and deliver it to starving Christians.
To say that you have a right to food, apart from what you produce yourself, receive as a gift, or obtain in free exchange from another, is to say you have a right to the product of someone else’s labor or, more directly, that you have a right to someone else’s labor. That is slavery.

Socialism demands high taxes on the creative individuals in those countries either causing the creative to be less creative because of the punishing taxes levied on their creativity or driving them out of their native land to countries with less punishing taxes.
If you really want to solve the problem of poverty institute Free Market Capitalism. As an example of the great things that capitalism can do I give you the miracle of Hong Kong. An island with few resources yet has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. Hong Kong has low taxes and free trade the recipe for a successful society. Where there is success there is little poverty
If you want to solve structural causes of poverty allow people to be FREE.
