Fifty-four percent of single people who use emojis had sex in 2014 — compared to 31 percent of singles who didn’t, according to the dating site’s annual Singles in America survey.
“[Emoji users] want to give their texts more personality…They don’t just have more sex, they go on more dates and they are two times more likely to want to get married,” Rutgers University professor Dr. Helen Fisher, who headed the study, told Time magazine.
Sixty-two percent of singles who use emojis want to get married, she said. By contrast, only thirty percent of singles who don’t use them want to tie the knot.
The study also claims women who use the kiss-related emojis tend to have an easier time reaching orgasm with a familiar partner, possibly because they value communication.
The survey includes information from 5,675 people, in their 20s, 30s and 40s, from all over the country.
The “wink” face emoji is used most often by singles, followed by the “smile” and the “kiss,” according to the survey.
