Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who is currently pondering his playing future, will not play in next Sunday's Pro Bowl due to the right thigh injury he suffered in December.
In a statement released and distributed by the team, Manning said he was disappointed to miss the first Pro Bowl he has been selected to when he wasn't playing in the Super Bowl. He has been named to 14 Pro Bowls in his career.

It is hard to believe that a person as young as 39 is approaching the end of his playing career.
More time for golf ?
btw: Gary Kubiak will take the Broncos job if it’s offered to him when Elway meets with him today.

He did have surgery to correct a mildly broken neck. The game ages one. He has been great, though.
When he was on SNL he seemed to be good with his lines. He could make a more convincing action hero in Hollywood than a lot of ones now trying. Of course now, on TV, the action heroes cartwheeling the bad guys are mostly female.
What is the point of the pro Bowl? Players from teams that didn’t end up on top participate in a meaningless game and risk career-ending injury.
(Credit jingle to someone else on an an earlier thread)
He’s got great screen presence. He’s good humored and natural. If he doesn’t become a coach, he’s a lock to be one of the best-liked football commentators, if he wants to be.
Risk injury? IMO none of them should play.
Most are lucky to still be playing at 30.
