Been looking at some of the coverage today regarding the Obama Regime's efforts to enrich the communist dictators of Cuba.
Among other elements happening is the new importation of cigars....and the press certainly seems quite enamored with Obamugabe for this action.
Of course we have been subject for DECADES about the EEEVILS of tobacco...
If the media were going to be consistent, we would see them ripping Obama for increasing Americans' exposure to such a DEADLY product.
I guess ATTACKING AMERICAN TOBACCO companies is okay, while ENRICHING CUBAN DICTATORS who control Cuban tobacco is even better.
American tobacco=bad. CUBAN tobacco=good.
Paging Monica Lewinsky.
Unless Big Tobacco gets shook down for cash - either willingly or unwillingly.
-as Wm. F. Buckley pointed out (maybe not an exact quote, but close),"the same portion of the political spectrum that would make smoking tobacco a felony , would like to make smoking marijuana mandatory"--
“...If the media were going to be consistent...”
LOL...that’s a good one.
There is NOTHING in Cuba that Americans (and others) can’t get elsewhere or produce, themselves.
Cuba is ONLY tourism.
Why they thought they could kill the goose that laid the golden egg and STILL survive ONLY as a manufacturing (what?) or a sugar producing country, when anything THEY could manufacture was produced outside Cuba and sugar was available everywhere else .... is beyond me!
Fidel and Che had about as much economy smarts as your average tree slug. AND put the whole country behind the 8 ball for decades.
It was ONLY about BS Marxist ideology and POWER... for Fidel and Che... and their cronies. Typical Liberal drivel.
From another aspect, news is activism. But, as demonstrated here, it’s pointless activism for the sake of activism. Other than the liberal shiny thing du jour, “news” is about generating controversy, argument and sales. There really is no “news.” It’s just fluff to sell toothpaste, Depends, and beer.
If it were Bush, the media would’ve taken out all the mouth, lip, tongue, lung and gum cancer photos and paraded them 24/7.
Just imagine what the taxes will be on a real Cuban cigar in NYC, LA, SEATTLE or Boston.
I’m not even allowed to smoke on my own hirise apartment balcony.
Only one thing though: the world has discovered better alternatives from Central America, especially since Central American cigar producers have access to better technology.

I am going to the Caribbean in February and will not be buying any Cuban cigars, too great a chance of fake or bad Cubans.
BTW, last trip, I bought some fake Dominican Cohibas.
