Pope on Climate Change: Man Has 'Slapped Nature in the Face'

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE — Pope Francis said Thursday he is convinced that global warming is "mostly" man-made and that he hopes his upcoming encyclical on the environment will encourage negotiators at a climate change meeting in Paris to make "courageous" decisions to protect God's creation.

Francis has spoken out frequently about the "culture of waste" that has imperiled the environment and he elaborated en route to the Philippines. While there, Francis will meet with survivors of the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan, which the government has said was an example of the extreme weather conditions that global warming has wrought.

"I don't know if it (human activity) is the only cause, but mostly, in great part, it is man who has slapped nature in the face," he said. "We have in a sense taken over nature."

"I think we have exploited nature too much," Francis said, citing deforestation and monoculture. "Thanks be to God that today there are voices, so many people who are speaking out about it."

Supposedly he has only one lung. Imagine what he’d do if he had two!

You can’t tell that to the Catholic-haters here. They are deaf, dumb and blind to Catholic theology. That said, the Pope needs to be locked away in a closet for a couple of years. Oh, for my youth, when Popes were never seen and rarely heard.

The Pope is committing the sin of excessive “pride” if he views man as being that omnipotent.

Right on, from a former Catholic. (quit when I was 9 after watching the "Church" continue to change positions on all sorts of things.)

” Within one year this Pope will be calling for Sharia law worldwide.”

6 months....after he tires of promoting Marxists.

I also wouldn’t doubt if he opens the door to unrepentant sin by declaring that salvation does not require an effort to resist temptation.

Wait! What? When did they re-apply that rule?!? I mean, that's been ignored for years now!

Unfortunately, he’s fulfilling prophecy. He is enabling the totalitarian NWO by moving towards a one world religion. This sort of thing is Leftist Gaia worship. He also promotes ecumenism with Islam.
No wonder that the Catholic Church never has anything to say about prophecy and the end times.

"How much is his Buddy Obama paying him for the propaganda?"

Catholic run adoption services are paid by the state governments to put children in the homes of same sex parents. It's just another situation begging for limited government.

I’m trying to figure out how the College of Cardinals wound up voting for this guy??? And why the real Pope resigned early....which IIRC, no pope has ever done. What’s in the background that we don’t know?

Maybe the CC will come full circle and start recommending jail for ‘science’ deniers.

If you read Italian, you can read all of his glorious remarks here:

http://magister.blogautore.espresso.repubblica.it/

He said appallingly stupid things about “climate change,” on which he is writing an encyclical that he wants released in time for a big “climate change” conference to be held in Paris in the fall. I guess he believes the world is waiting with bated breath for the judgments of his profound scientific knowledge.

And then he went on to say appallingly stupid things about the glories of all “faith traditions” and how bad the Catholic Church was! This was while he was trying to explain why he didn’t have time to meet with the Catholic bishops in Sri Lanka (Cardinal Ranjith is conservative, btw), but he did have time to go pray at a Buddhist temple.

He’s a jerk, no doubt about it. Thanks for reading through all this stuff so I don’t have to do it. I still want to know why Benedict stepped down. All the leaders of the “free world” are freaks - including him.

So much for the infallibility of a pope. The man is an idiot.

The dogma of the infallibility of the Pope has nothing to do with the Pope's opinions about any scientific proposition. The Catholic Church teaches that the Pope is protected from error when 1) he teaches about the faith and about morals, and 2) when he proposes such teaching for belief by the entire Church.

This Pope is a shallow, stupid, leftist dupe. But his stupid, destructive opinions about global warming have no connection with the dogma of papal infallibility.

“So much for the infallibility of a pope.”

The concept of infallibility, and the scope of what that applies to, has been the focus of confusion and debate. I clearly don't have the answer regarding the exact thoughts of the Catholic hierarchy, but I personally don't believe he was speaking about climate change with the authority of Papal Infallibility.

It's my personal belief that this pope is overreaching at times in his attempts to show that the Church is in line with modernity and not anti-science.

Around the time of every Papal election, one hears over and over that “the Holy Spirit chooses the Pope.”

This superstition has no basis whatsoever in the teaching of the Catholic Church.

It’s a dangerous superstition, because it tempts many people to look at a stupid, vain, shallow Pope (like Bergoglio) and say, “This man must not really be Pope, because the Holy Spirit would protect the Church against having a Pope like this.”

No. Bergoglio is really Pope. He’s just a stupid, vain, shallow Pope.

The Catholic Church has survived even worse Popes, even a couple of heretic Popes, whose blunders had to be corrected by their successors.
