The New York City clinic where Joan Rivers suffered a fatal complication during a medical procedure is losing its accreditation at the end of the month, a federal agency said Monday.
Yorkville Endoscopy no longer meets the conditions for a supplier of ambulatory surgical center services, the Centers for Medicare Services said in a statement. As of Jan. 31, the Manhattan medical facility will no longer be eligible to receive federal funds for services provided to Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries.

The clinic is still licensed. It just won’t be reimbursed for services performed for Medicare/Medicaid patients.
Another piece I read said the sanction wasn’t for the bad surgical care but hippa violations regarding the cell phone photos. I forget the source though.
Doctors and anesthetists should never give propofol to an elderly person.
They can restructure and reopen as a certified Obamacare death panel.
Jeeper, Mr. Wilson!
Ya s’pose d’at d’ey done did whut d’ey s’posed to do, an’ now d’ey just kinda fold up an’ go away?
D’at Joan Rivers woman, (she dah one on d’at tv shop channel right?), calling B-nack Obama a humusex’l, an’ his wife a guy, musta done git d’at secret service tah make d’at doctor office tah shut her up!
I wonder if it would have closed had it been an abortion clinic?
Joan Rivers’ death loses accreditation??
Will probably just switch over to become an abortion clinic .... don’t really need that high a quality of medical expertise, hygiene or ethics.
I’m an anesthetist. I give propofol to elderly patients....safely. You have no idea the circumstances of this situation so unless you are an anesthesia provider, your comment is uninformed and irresponsible.
Everybody’s an expert now after they read a National Enquirer story about Michael Jackson.
