As 2014 draws to a close and the final few state legislatures still in session prepare to finally adjourn for the year, the ALEC Center for State Fiscal Reform has again published State Tax Cut Roundup, which details the states that cut taxes in the 2014 legislative session. During the 2014 legislative session, 14 states passed significant tax cuts into law. These cuts vary in what tax they reduced and their size but they share one crucial similarity: they put more money into the pockets of taxpayers in their respective states. Those 14 states are detailed in the map below:
Perhaps the biggest storyline of the 2014 legislative session is the prevalence of tax cuts in both red and blue states. New York and Rhode Island—two states with the highest corporate income taxes in the nation—both cut their corporate income tax rate significantly in 2014. Additionally, New York, Rhode Island, Minnesota and Maryland all raised their death tax baseline exemption to allow their citizens to keep more of their inherited business value or capital after their loved one’s passing. Moreover Midwestern “purple” states like Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Minnesota—states where democrats have wielded political power or been politically competitive in recent decades—cut taxes in 2014.

It’s actually a lie that WI is purple. Vast majority of counties are red. Most cities are red. Take out the top 3 liberal bastion cities and the state is red. They’re like little marxist DC’s, isolated in their beltway libtard mentalities.
And we’ve got both chambers and the state scotus, plus the governorship. Of course ever since his recall election he hasn’t wanted to do anything hard anymore b/c that’s the day he started running for president. And we have PLENTY to fix here. It was just a beginning and he stopped dead cold.

Minnesota had a huge increase in taxes in 2013. The so called tax cut in 2014 was a repeal of a business - to - business tax enacted in 2013 that got repealed and every cent was refunded. It only got repealed because it was a close election year and the Democrats still lost the lower house.
Nonsense. Walker’s got a great and aggressive agenda. He’s just playing it smart which is the way to go if you want to hold power. Look what incrementalism did for the Left.

It isn’t nonsense. Your response is nonsense. The left has more than one issue they push and they keep going. They go after other issues after working one for awhile.
You can’t call it incrementalism if you don’t DO ANYTHING after one issue. He hasn’t dealt with anything hard since the recall vote.
The recall law is not being changed. Or limited. The recall law is part of the state constitution which is very hard to change.
I live here and voted for him three times. It’s an accurate and honest assessment. Don’t like saying it but that’s the way I see him, and so do others. Not that what he has done isn’t good, but he’s not done anything hard or really needed since then. And now he doesn’t want to touch right to work, which is needed and it would help the economy here and especially any businesses considering a move here.
The repubs in the legislature want this and he doesn’t because it will give the left ammo to use on him for his presidential run. I don’t give a crap about his presidential run and I want him to deal with Wisconsin issues because THAT is why I voted for him.
So he’s not really planning to merge organizations, tighten the budget to keep it in the black, reform education and sign legislation to reform GAB, John Doe and the Recall issue? That’s not what I’m hearing from Brad Courtney.
Nobody in the WIGOP is concerned that Walker won’t move the agenda forward. Now’s not the time to go wobbly because your agenda isn’t being implemented exactly as you see fit. Walker’s sincere and committed. I trust him absolutely. If what he plans to do comes to fruition, Wisconsin will be more conservative in four years than it is today and the Republican majority will be stronger.
He has not done any of what you mentioned the last two years. He had two years to do that stuff in and none of it got done. When people were asking him to do it because of the clear need to do it.
He could have reformed the GAB. He could have pushed for this when it was far more relevant. Now 5 of 6 spots are Walker appointments yet the GAB is still dysfunctional.
Where’s the education reform? There hasn’t been any. Last two years. Dealing with the teacher’s union isn’t fixing education deficiencies.
WHo’s pushing for anything about John Doe investigations. Who’s made that their big issue to get to the bottom of? Who ran on that? Nobody.
Planning to merge organizations. Planning. Two years since the recall. But “planning” to.
Two years of nothing major getting done. Now that right to work is something republicans actually WANT to do and can do, he doesn’t want to do it.
I am looking at everything from reality. I don’t sugarcoat our side. I’d rather have him but ever since the recall election he’s been biding his time. Trying to not piss anyone off because he wants to run for president and hopes it will be so long ago it will be a non-issue and if he does nothing else controversial there won’t be anything else for eneimes to attempt to use. In the meantime we get nothing significant accomplished when we need to get a lot done while we have the wi scotus, both chambers and the governorship and AG.
It will never be better to get things done and he isn’t pushing a strong agenda for anything.
You’re on the ground there, but wasn’t he just involved in two nearly back to back elections? The goal was to get reelected. He is a politician. He also comes across as very thoughtful and well grounded.
Wisconsin is very evenly divided. He’s walking a fine line. I don’t find it surprising that we didn’t pursue anything to shake up the hive. I believe that if the legislature sends him a RTW bill he’ll sign it. Let’s see what happens.

That’s not surprising as they’re an important constituency. What’s surprising is that too many FReepers think politics is dictating your will. There’s wanting something and then there’s forming a coalition that will pass it. That’s how it works in a republic.
For certain we’re getting some form of immigration reform and it is nearly 100% certain that it will contain an amnesty provision. What we need to do is make this the last time ever, build the fence first and make it really hard to become an illegal alien, which might include punishing cities and counties that harbor them.
