New Orleans is the
Only place where I’ve been “felt up”
By a male making a “pass”
It took considerable effort to prevent
Punching out the guy

The Star and Crescent badge, unique to the NOPD, has been worn by members of the department since 1855. The crescent represents the shape of the city, as the Mississippi River forms a crescent shape around the city. The star represents the power of a state or local government to preserve order and keep the peace; it is a traditional symbol of law enforcement authority in the United States.

The logo printed on the New Orleans Police looks strikingly like the Moslem symbol. I guess its just coincidence. Yes, it's just a coincidence. New Orleans was known as the Crescent City (from the bend in the Mississippi River it was centered upon) for much longer than that "Big Easy" nonsense has been around. No minarets there, yet.

I was there for the Sugar Bowl several years ago. Never again. I felt as if I was witnessing the gates of hell....and that’s putting it lightly. Drinking hurricanes didn’t cloud it, either.

That’s why New Orleans is called, “The Crescent City.”

I can’t say anything. Heck, I took off to Brasilian carnaval as a younger man to places where no one spoke English. Time of my life (I spoke Portuguese and could fluently ruin it in 3 different accents.) They seemed to really appreciate It. Darn that cachacas...
Hanging out with ferals in NO? Their @ss, not mine and apparently they got ROI they didn’t count on.

New Orleans is the ‘crescent city’ because it’s built on a bend in the Mississippi.
Of course the city across the river is Algiers so ya never know..

It is called the crescent city because of a bend in the river. It is not Islamic. At all. They would be the first ones to try to burn it to the ground.

When I saw that logo, I don’t mind telling you, my heart skipped a beat, and not due to infatuation. Thanks for explaining.

Interesting. that happened to me as well in the 1980s on Chartres street at night

Same here, speaking of the downtown tourist spots, of course. Some fine restaurants in the neighborhoods though.

The only thing I want to see in NO is the WWII museum. And if it’s in an unsafe part of town, I’ll just skip it.

The Museum at Fort Jackson is also full of WWII memorabilia if it is still there. It is full of items brought back from WWII by Louisiana troops.

And Arabi right down the street.
