The Museum at Fort Jackson is also full of WWII memorabilia if it is still there. It is full of items brought back from WWII by Louisiana troops.

Don’t forget Chalmette Battlefield right next door.

The Bicentennial of the Battle of New Orleans is just five days away, January 8th.

I had a couple of ancestors there, one who manned cannon alongside Jean Lafitte. Some ungenerous souls called him a ‘pirate’, I’m sure he preferred ‘entrepreneur’.
