The Weather Channel featured the eagle’s nest Saturday night and it no longer had snow on it. Of course I could say to the husband “I saw it on FR first!”.

'Tis the season for flowers ...

... almost.

.

Flowers

I look at the soil of darkness and putrescence,
How can flowers find sustenance there?
And yet from soil and sunlight they somehow,
Will lift perfection in the air.

The honeybee enjoys the harvest,
And journeys deep in the flower-bell.
She wallows in the joy of life,
While we only get a smell.

I have never seen a Virginia Bluebell, Meg. Those are so pretty.

I know what you mean about being busy.
Had maintenance men in this morning. Needed the A/C serviced and the dryer vent cleaned.
Wanted to get it taken care of before the A/C is needed about 18 hours a day.
Then it was time to pick Marissa up from school.
Then time to think about dinner.
I'm too old to be raising a teenager.
BUT, no way would I give her up.

My wish for you is a Wonderful Week, too.

Thank you for sharing that wonderful flower.

"Hope your weather catches up soon."

.

Sonnet to Almost Spring

The flowers stir, and stretch their tender shoots,
Awakened by a warmth come softly seeping,
“Rise up!” the call has traced their hidden roots,
To rouse them from their winter’s peaceful sleeping.

The den of slumbers has become,
A din of noisy childish clatter.
Impetuous and impish in its sum,
They split the earth and clamber up its ladder.

Emerging into sunlit air, and softening caresses,
Of nurture at its basest form, the soil on which we stand,
Which all too quickly grips them and compresses,
As night falls much too early in the land.

False spring has lured them out. Cruel season’s dying play,
Receding from the shores of Spring, the Winter ebbs away.

Simply Trusting
March 24, 2015

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. —Psalm 56:3

When our children were young, taking them to the doctor’s office was an interesting experience. The waiting room was filled with toys they could play with and children’s magazines I would read to them. So getting that far with them was no problem. But as soon as I picked them up to carry them into the appointment, everything changed. Suddenly the fun turned into fear as the nurse approached with the needle for the needed shot. The closer she got, the tighter they hugged my neck. They would cling to me for comfort, probably hoping for rescue, not knowing that it was for their own good.

Sometimes in this fallen world we move from times of peace and tranquility into the painful realm of trouble. At that point, the question is, “How will I respond?” We can be fearful and wonder why God allowed this to happen to us, or we can trust that in the midst of this trouble He is doing something that in the end is for our best, even if it hurts. We would do well to remember the words of the psalmist who wrote, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You” (Ps. 56:3).

Like my children, the tougher it gets, the tighter we should hug His neck. Trust Him. His love never fails!

Come quickly, Lord, to help me. Teach me to trust You in times of trouble. Remind me of Your presence and of the fact that You hold me in Your loving arms.
Cling to your heavenly Father; He is your only hope.
INSIGHT: Psalm 56 was written by David when the Philistines captured him in Gath, as stated in the superscription. One of the ironies of David’s life is that he killed the Philistine champion Goliath who was from Gath, but in fleeing from Saul he sought refuge in that same city. In both circumstances, his ultimate refuge was found in God.

Spring Can't Come to the Phone Right Now . . .

Spring can't come to the phone right now...
She's flown to distant hills
to dabble speckles on a fawn
and fling out daisy spills.

When she re-mosses forest floors
and pulls back Winter's pall,
she'll batten down the daffodil
and then return your call!

To teach the wren her little song
will take an hour or two-
Striping birches lasts awhile,
so wait and she'll call you.

You'll know when April comes again -
She'll cause your heart to leap.
Just close your eyes and listen
to her message at the "beep".

Charlotte Partin

A Happy GratiTuesday to everyone here at Amy's Place!
