Archaeologists in Israel have unearthed fragments of a glass bracelet stamped with seven-branched menorahs. The bracelet remains were found on the second night of Hanukkah in Mount Carmel National Park - once a large settlement during the late Roman or early Byzantine period. The 1,600-year-old glass piece was hidden in an uncovered box, containing a number of other glass fragments that had been discarded as waste.

1,600 years which would be 414 AD. Oh so Jews were in Israel before Mohammed was even born, how about that.

Interesting! Hmmm. Limor Talmi looks exactly like my aunt Susie, when she was about that age.

That bead was carved by loving hands 1600 years ago. Amazing.

This brings an opportunity to ask a question that has been puzzling me recently: on all these historical sites, menorahs are shown with 6 arms and a place for a 7th candle in the middle. Modern menorahs have 8 arms with a place for a 9th candle in the middle. What is the significance of the 2 different ways of portraying a menorah?
