The Interview -- Painfully Bad
Puffington Host ^ | 12/25/2014 | David Edmund Moody

Having introduced the matter of North Korea, however, the film unfortunately does require some attention, if only to disabuse prospective viewers of any hope that it has any redeeming value. Notwithstanding the protections provided by the First Amendment, there is a valid question whether the assassination of any living head of state, no matter how heinous the individual or his regime, is suitable subject matter for a major studio motion picture. If one objects on moral grounds to any such depiction, it's hard to know where to direct one's concern. The Sony Corporation, not to mention the stars and originators of this film, are surely impervious to any objections raised from any quarter, even if Sony withheld release of the film for a few days in order to placate Kim Jung Un himself.

I’ll bet the reviewer thought The Hobbit was exceptionally good.

Something that I have noticed in almost all the recent film out of Hollywood now. They almost all contain ongoing and disgusting homosexual “jokes” and references. Over and over.

One is bad enough, but it’s like this ongoing bathroom raunch. Was watching some movie with Jack Black in it and I turned it off because it had so many disgustingly crude homosexual “jokes”.

It is really bad, and not remotely funny.

We got through 35 minutes of Fbombs and "She's hot!" and "Did you do her?", before switching over to the "Equalizer".

The Kim Jong-Un death scene was hot.

The best part. They could have just shown that and that would have been the end of it. The rest was garbage.

St. Vincent was better on a 1000 levels compared to this film, and that aint saying a lot.

I’ll check that one out. Don’t care for Murray that much but he’s way better than many.

I’d rather watch laundry drying than “The Interview” - or 99% of what Hollywood puts out.

Bingo!!

We thought that immediately at our house.

Sony most likely did test viewing of the movie - with horrible reviews and results — and, as they’re nearing bankruptcy needed a “Hit.”

And, this wasn’t it.

I’d rather scrub my kitchen floor than watch this!!

Freepers have told me that this is a ridiculous idea and that I don’t understand Hollywood or big business well enough to grasp how much financial risk was really involved here. Maybe they are right.

But what seems inarguable to me is that a lot of people in the industry (and I mean cultural critics) seem totally in the tank to make this movie into something respectable.

I haven’t seen anyone compare it to “Citizen Kane”, but they seem to almost come close. People — it’s a Seth Rogen flick. These may be amusing, they may have an audience. They may have a tendency to make money. But “has to be seen”? I don’t think so.

It’s a trashy, vulgar, “B” picture that is attractive to frat boys and grown-up adolescents. It’s not “good”. It’s not “important”.

But some people are spinning like crazy trying to convince the world of the cultural importance of this major motion picture. Like Obama, this is surely a case of “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.

Although I’d love to see the movie just like everyone else... as a finger in the eye for NK. But I flat-out refuse to give any money to Sony. Ever since that root-kit BS, I’ve been waiting for the place to burn down so I can laugh.

I watched it via post #26. Fast forwarded thru it. It probably had a couple of amusing moments. I liked “This is the End”, even though it was pretty gross.
