The Interview -- Painfully Bad
Puffington Host ^ | 12/25/2014 | David Edmund Moody

Having introduced the matter of North Korea, however, the film unfortunately does require some attention, if only to disabuse prospective viewers of any hope that it has any redeeming value. Notwithstanding the protections provided by the First Amendment, there is a valid question whether the assassination of any living head of state, no matter how heinous the individual or his regime, is suitable subject matter for a major studio motion picture. If one objects on moral grounds to any such depiction, it's hard to know where to direct one's concern. The Sony Corporation, not to mention the stars and originators of this film, are surely impervious to any objections raised from any quarter, even if Sony withheld release of the film for a few days in order to placate Kim Jung Un himself.

“Painfully Bad”

Ansel, you won’t find much stuff posted at FR that comes from the propaganda machine, Huffington Post.

I smell a rat - a big setup. Something about this is just too convenient and too perfect, except that the alleged Nork overreaction is a bit too irrational and over the top. My experienced Hegel-sniffing nose makes me wonder two things:
1. What are we being distracted away from? And
2. How might government expand its power as a result?

Tighter control of the internet might answer the second question...

Oh great. My kids are 16, 15, 12 and 6. I really didn’t think the 6 year old would be interested but the 12 year old might but not entirely sure.

I had to stop watching it... even if you can watch it for free here:

Not sure if you will get much further than I did.
Bad.

I think the folks at SONY realized this film was a flop and pulled off a massive publicity stunt to make it profitable.

I saw it yesterday. Horrible. Just plain horrible. If you had 40 people at your house and everyone chipped in 15 cents they are overpaying.

There is no way the Norks did this.. It had to be a Sony gag to draw attention to this dreck. About the emails? Who cares. The bosses will still keep their jobs, a couple of actors will have their films seen, (Jolie was hammered, but I will see Unbroken) and the MSM will cover up as much as possible.

In my opinion, humble of course, this was a trial balloon to see if showing first run movies online will be a keeper. Answer? No.

What you say is certainly possible, but the flip side is that “irrational and over the top” is an accurate description of the Norks. I do not deny that there is lot going on in the world that we don’t see.

“These Canadian (except Franco) Hollywood dipshits just smoke their butts off and get somebody to write it down.”

The bigger problem - rather than being “Canadian” - is that these Hollywood writers were raised by (as Seth Rogen says of his parents): “radical Jewish socialists.”

Thank you. I’ve already seen that Baby Kim death scene, though, so I’m not sure I’ll bother with the rest.

Thanks. I didn’t know that. Now I wonder about the 16 and 15 year old. Maybe my wife and I will see it first and see. I do want to support and normally would have probably waited for streaming or something to see it, but just wanted to do our part, but I don’t want to corrupt my kids for it.

Wow. That is pretty “to the point” especially about the money part. Maybe we will just see Unbroken instead. I wanted to see that anyway and perhaps I can actually take the kids to that.
