Remember Jordan Axani? He was the man left with an extra ticket for an around-the-world adventure when his girlfriend broke up with him. Undeterred from taking the trip, he set out to find another woman named Elizabeth Gallagher to use his ex's ticket. Fast forward a month...Axani has found his new Elizabeth Gallagher.
After the story came out, 28-year-old Axani received thousands of emails, including 18 from women named Elizabeth Gallagher who held Canadian passports. Ultimately, Axani chose 23-year-old Elizabeth "Quinn" Gallagher, a student and former member of the Canadian Coast Guard.
The two will meet in New York this week to embark on their three week trip that includes stops in Italy, Austria, France, Thailand and India. The two will be staying in separate hotel rooms and Gallagher will be responsible for her own food and souvenirs.
Jordan Axani wants to give you a free trip around the world...if you are Canadian and named Elizabeth Gallagher.
In case you were wondering, Gallagher has a "serious" boyfriend.
"He understands that I've always wanted to travel so while he's not happy I'm taking off for nearly a month at Christmas with a random guy, he's smiling through it," she told The Associated Press.
Stunned by the response his story received, Axani has started a charity to help "underprivileged and at-risk" people travel.
"The whole reason the charity started was there was a huge outpouring from people who wanted to travel the world and feared they wouldn't," Axani told ABC News.
If only I would have thought up this idea when I was 35.

I know if I had decided to do something like this when my husband and I were dating he would have had no issue with it. He would of course have been long gone out of my life when I returned, but would have said nothing if I had decided to go off with some other man. The story would not have mattered, want to travel, separate rooms...

Yep it’s stupid. Had round trip tickets for me and niece in June. She would up in the hospital at the last minute and couldn’t go. Didn’t cost them any more or less for that empty seat.
If his ex-girlfriend’s name was Bertha, he might have come up with a different approach to getting sub.

I was not referring to the girl. I was referring to what the guy giving the ticket to her said about wanting to set up a charity to help the poor travel and take vacations.
