I got some Italian roast beef going in a crock pot at my desk. Stop on by for a sandwich at lunchtime.

The department went out for lunch last week. But that is a “pay-your-own-way” basis.

There is a company Christmas party at a banquet hall. It’s like $20-25 a person plus cash bar. I’ve never gone.

tightwads! they are supposed to pay for it! xshub’s place and xsboy’s place each had parties out at a restaurant and the organization paid. xsteen’s place of work and mine both have potluck parties in house during the work day. we prefer that bc neither of us would go if had to go after hours somewhere and spend time with these people LOL!

Can you imagine the bill for drinks and dinner for 700 some people and their spouses?

In the small company I used to work, the last day or so before Christmas the president would throw a party at work. (They also had a formal Christmas party.) The president had one of those globes in his office that was a bar and we all would get into it for the afternoon. Good times.

xsbro’s company has a big bash at a hotel, and the company pays, I honestly have not heard of an org [other than gov] having people pay to attend a Christmas party.

For your potluck:

Guacamole del Rey

2 Panamanian avocados or 4 Haas avocados
1 medium white onion
1 or 2 (your taste) mature Roma tomatoes
2-3 dashes salt
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 TBSP cilantro leaf, WELL-chopped
juice of 1/2 to 1 lime (depends on size
1/2 tsp fresh ground cumin
3 rashers good (i.e. not too fat) bacon

an Combine first 6 ingredients while frying bacon. Only a fork is used to mash/mix the avocado! We don' need no steenken' blender. Drain the bacon when cooked, then chop into very small pieces. Add bacon, lime juice and cumin and mix again. Cover w/plastic wrap and refrigerate.

10 min before serving, taste, and adjust spices if you like.

Simple recipe that usually vanishes VERY quickly. Recipe can be multiplied if desired.

Onion and tomato should of course be diced (sorry for omission).

What does a position on a prison have to do with church dogma? I’m not seeing what you are.

Two options here:

1) use parsley instead, well chopped, or
2) use ground coriander seed instead(fresh ground is much better, IF you have whole seeds). Only about 1/2 to 3/4 tsp, though...certainly NOT a TBSP (unless you REALLY like coriander; that much will overwhelm the other flavours).

There's always a fix for a distaste for a particular herb.

;^)

It is all of a piece with what he has been saying and doing since he got there. His default position is lib, no matter the issue. It’s not a PR ploy to put a friendly face on the church, he is a lib. period.
