Looks to me like they were trying to stop the car from passing through.
Lock doors, lay on the horn and plow on through.
It helps too if your passenger fires a warning shot. They tend to scatter.
Under no circumstances stop or get out of your car.
My credentials? I am alive. Other people who did not follow that advice ended up with broken bones and other injuries. I don't think anyone died that night but they did other nights.
