Has anyone out there ever gotten those credit card offers where they want to give you money (sometimes $400.00) to use their card?
Some require you to spend like $1000 in four months to qualify .....
I frequently sign up for credit cards for points/miles.
I never open them but, I do have a friend who was given a $3,000 limit on a credit recently.
He hasn’t worked but one job in the 25 years I’ve known him and I have no idea hose he qualified for a line of unsecured credit, much less for $3,000!
BUT, you have to be good with money or you will get in over your head (what they are hoping) and end up with credit card debt at 15%+ interest.
People like me that can afford to pay off my credit cards in full each month can make out like a bandit on these deals. But people with no financial discipline and the inability to pay off the debt the rack up before the higher interest kicks in are the very dupes these deals are created to con.
No. Coincidentally, I don’t owe money to anyone.
My grandmother, God rest her soul, was a NYC public school teacher for 50 years.
I remember the day when she read in the paper about the creation of VISA. She even cut the article out to show me how stupid people were.
I’m guilty of accepting credit cards for no fee/no interest for a year on balance transfers....
some of those credit cards have a bait and switch going on....pronounces in large numbers what you can get but when you actually apply, after you’ve given them all your info, they say you’ve been “approved” for much less...
Sounds like you’re doing it right!
Become an undocumenter creditee and sign up in someone elses name.
Who will get the cash from the accumulated points?
Recently, a Wegman's opened up nearby. It's a spectacular grocery store, even outclassing Whole Foods. Plus, it's the first grocery store (6%) around here to sell alcoholic beverages. Its prices are slightly lower than the package stores (1%) in the area.
So, guess where I'll be buying all my adult beverages (except Scotch hard liquor is cheaper in New Hampshire because of taxes).
That's fine, if you use it to your advantage. Pay off that debt. Don't charge anything over that year, unless it's on a different credit card that you pay off each month. The catch is if you add to the balance on the "free" card, they often charge interest on the new debts and anything you pay cuts into the 0% debt, not the interest-paying debt.
It might be a burden to do so, but pay off all your debt. Drive a car into the ground so you can purchase the next one cash. If it's at all possible, find a way to avoid expensive monthly housing. Trust me, life changes once you're debt-free.
I signed up for an Amazon card to get the $30 they were offering off of my next order. It was Christmas so why not? Well, they never did get around to crediting that $30 so after a while had them cancel the card and told them why. Haven’t ordered anything from Amazon except free Kindle stuff since.
Well, he was approved.
Zero interest until April 2015.
He went on another drunken binge and burned right through his limit.
I asked how he could afford to soend $3,000 and bis response was that he only had to pay $25 a month.
WTF!!???
I informed him tbat April is very much around the corner.
“How do you expect to pay what will be a $300 a month requirement”.
LOL
So he says “Hopefully, I’ll have a job by then and it won’t be a problem”.
Odd, given that in the 25 years I’ve known him he has been deathly allergic to work or anything that resembles it.
Somehow, this guy just works all these deals that you and I could never work out.
For as much effort as he puts into his scams and schemes he could have a job that would support him living independently from his Mommie.
Dude is 44 and the most crippled alcoholic I ever met.
Won’t do any housework unless told, pointedly, by his mother to “Stop making time. This ain’t no clock factory. GET ON IT!”
He even bragged he had a Black Card.
I laughed “Sheah, right. No way you got a Black Card!”
He got pissed, whipped out his card, saying “Well, what’s this!!??”.
“You pretending you have an Amex Black Card. Crapital One is not the card you implied. Have fun trying to make the payment though”.
Idiot.
IA he Obama voter? Or just stupid. You can’t fix stupid/
He’s so stoopit he could strangle himself with a cordless phone.
he’s also a felon, so no voting for him...
We get very few credit card offers anymore.
I think the companies got tired of me taping the included Business Reply envelopes to telephone books, prospectuses, or bundles of magazines...and mailing them the “package”.
As business reply mail, they are responsible for the postage (First Class postage by the ounce).
I’d mail them bricks if I had any.
