A woman admitted to a London hospital last night is being tested for the Ebola virus, it has been confirmed. The patient has a history of travel in west Africa and is described as suffering from a "haemorrhagic fever". It is thought she presented herself to St George's Hospital in Tooting, south London, with a high temperature.

Ebola is a hemorrhagic fever.
Thank you. I know that. I was being facetious.
Sorry, I was just trying to be clear in case people did not know.
maybe not facetious. Just noting most suspect cases were described in a more flu-like way. There is Ebola and Marburg. Not sure what it will be when we are told it is a negative test result...
No problemo. I should have put a /sarc or something there. I forget people can’t read my mind ;)
That is because you forget to take off your tin foil hat, before posting.
expect officials to do anything they can to avoid saying ‘ebola’
This could be Ebola, Marburg, Lassa, yellow fever, or any of a number of deadly hemorrhagic fevers, so there is no need to panic and assume it’s the one with a current, widespread outbreak. Also, I wouldn’t worry that she spread it on the bus before checking herself in at the hospital. I have it on the best authority (the Obama Administration) that hemorrhagic fevers cannot be spread on a bus. In fact, I’ve been thinking we should send some of our magic western buses to West Africa so that they can all live on buses, sleep on buses, and treat patients on buses, where there is no risk of spread.
Also, there is one rhabdovirus which yields a hemorrhagic fever...
Marburg is not a disease we should take lightly...it can kill and get whole lot of people sick if exposed.
This is utterly ridiculous.
It’s not a hemorrhagic fever unless one is, you know, hemorrhaging. Otherwise, it’s just a fever.
There are many viruses that can cause a hemorrhagic fever. Measles, dengue, hanta, congo-crimean, Argentinian hemorrhagic fever, yellow fever, typhus (actually a bacteria)...
I wonder if she has malaria. It’s very common in Africa. It could even be influenza. It’s the season for it.
You are up to date!

"Deep sequencing was used to discover a novel rhabdovirus (Bas-Congo virus, or BASV) associated with a 2009 outbreak of 3 human cases of acute hemorrhagic fever in Mangala village, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Africa. The cases, presenting over a 3-week period, were characterized by abrupt disease onset, high fever, mucosal hemorrhage, and, in two patients, death within 3 days."
"BASV is an emerging human pathogen associated with acute hemorrhagic fever in Africa."
Would this woman happen to be a “guest worker”?

Gee, if the hospital says it is a hemorrhagic fever then just maybe she is bleeding, otherwise they would just say we are watching her because of her travels in an abundance of caution as other hospitals around the world have.
Do you even understand how many diseases on your list are quarantine diseases not to mention the list from the post you were putting down????
Yeah, I think if a hospital says she is suffering from a "hemorrhagic fever" and has traveled to West Africa they have every right to be very concerned and respond accordingly....whichever "hemorrhagic fever" it is.
South London = “Congo upon Thames”
And there are about five different types of Ebola she could have.
Maybe it is the Hanta virus?
