A good-natured comedy tonight. George C. Scott is Mordecai Jones, a legendary southern con-man who knows every grift like the back of his hand. Michael Sarrazin is the young, idealistic protege who learns the tricks of the trade as they con and hustle their way across the south.

Co-starring Sue Lyon and just a Who's-Who of great old character actors (Slim Pickens, Albert Salmi, Strother Martin, etc.)

This is a fun one. I love a good grift/con, and there's plenty in this film. I'm not a huge fan of car chases, but there's one early in the film that's quite well done. 7/10.

BTW, the movie's in "playlist format" - i.e. it was uploaded in parts, but all the parts are there and in order on the playlist. Enjoy!

This is one of my all time favorites!

I love the scene where the old man sells the store owner the “punch board” then his partner gets all the $$ prizes :^)

Saw it in 1967 at the theater. very funny movie.

The punch board scene is a hoot! The only thing wrong was the card game in which Sarazan says he is going to turn up the edge of one of those cards.

We never see why he turned up the edge of the card, but I believe the scene was done just before in another movie WATER HOLE #3 and maybe the director didn’t want to be seen as copycatting it.
