Hickox isn't backing away from challenging the home quarantine that's been forced on her in Maine. Meanwhile, Gov. Cuomo won't reveal the number of health care workers who have been subjected to the policy upon their arrival from West Africa.
Civil rights lawyer Norman Siegel has defended countless victims of government abuse over the years, including people swept up in another hysterical call for health quarantines during the early days of the AIDS epidemic.
But even the grizzled Siegel has been struck by the bravery and eloquence of Kaci Hickox, the 33-year-old nurse who telephoned him Saturday from a makeshift tent on the grounds of a New Jersey hospital to seek his legal help.
“She’s terrific, and she knows exactly what her rights are and she explains it all clearly,” Siegel said after visiting Hickox Sunday at the isolation unit where she’d been confined by Gov. Chris Christie.
Hickox was refusing to submit to a mandatory 21-day quarantine first decreed on Friday by Christie and our own Gov. Cuomo for all health care workers returning from West Africa through Port Authority airports.
After risking her life with the group Doctors Without Borders to treat Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, the last thing Hickox expected when she landed at Newark Airport was to be “treated like a criminal” in her own country, she said....

Horsehockey. The _resident exposed the whole scam, saying no quarantine for volunteers because it would discourage them - that’s not science!!! - but if we’re not worried about your sensibilities, it’s 21 days in the hole. And that is based on centuries of science.
Unfortunately I don’t expect that to be the case. I think if she got it it would indeed serve as a valuable lesson. However her roommate had it and she treated ebola patients and yet she still appears to have no symptoms. I don’t think she has it

Shoulda been a quarantine for AIDS! I was stuck in a TB ward for almost a year before they determined my TB was Atypical, non-contagious, and probably caught working in my Lilly garden. I lost everything, but until they figured out I wasn’t a risk, I was quarantined. For good reason! Just wish they could’ve been quicker in their tests and diagnosis! I spent a year with real TB patients, and didn’t get it! I was lucky!

I take that to mean that when the federal government (Obama), with no scientific evidence, orders you to go into quarantine, that you will comply.
I won’t.
She claims to be standing up for others but is all about herself. She knew the possibility of quarantine when she went to Africa to treat people. She also has never mentioned other people being quarantined like the military. She keeps it all about her while she claims to be standing up for the greater good. Not once has she mentioned military personnel being quarantined.
Are the military personnel who are being quarantined, being quarantined by themselves in isolation with out any one else in their room?
