5 years ago, I purchased an LG front load washer and dryer set. My expectations were as high as the price. About 2 years into it, the first washing machine failed and after many life intruding service calls, I got a new machine under the "lemon" provision of the warranty. This past Sunday, my "new" washer took a dump. Tub won't move. It will run an entire washing cycle and the tub never moves an inch. I have no warranty left and am not inclined to throw any more good money after bad.
We're gong back to a top loader and steering clear of LG and Samsung.
What say ye on the best top loader washer dryer combo today?
Aside from the inconvenience and expense, this experience has solved one problem for me. I now have a target for the family Thanksgiving Day shoot!
“Lint that gets through the bottom filters will collect directly on the heating elements and can be a fire hazard.”
That’s the only design flaw in the LG dryer. Too much lint gets past the filter and, at a minimum, eventually clogs up the exhaust vent.
Maytag here too.
.
We just buy the cheapest we can get
If they need fixing we do it ourselves
I don’t buy fancy vacuum cleaners either
Fifty buck bissell upright bag vac works great and lasts a long time if you take care of your stuff
I rented a house and stayed 10 years. An old Kenmore washer and dryer set were there when I got there. I did at least one load of wash every day for ten years, the machines NEVER got serviced, and they were still going strong when I left.
Kenmore was Sears’ brand, now. unfortunately manufactured by a whole slew of other companies. I think one thing to think about is just WHO builds whatever brand you buy.

Speed Queen old school top loader if you can find it
Low water non agitator machines are only good for long range target practice
I detest them
They don’t wash or rinse right
Ruin clothes
Dryers are easy...they all work
I have Asko dishwasher
Great machine....pricey
I hate high efficiency washers
I wasted 1000s on a May tag and Bosch
Any old school machine beats them
Govt BS pushed by slick sales folks
Its like a 1974 Caprice
Really sux

SPEED QUEEN ,, the only machines with old school control systems... The electronics are what fails.. get a machine with the old mech timers ... new=speed queen , used =anything 1990ish or older..
LOL. You have an evil mind, the mind of a Spotted Adder.
At Sears in Texas. Close to 1500 bucks for the set in 2005. Thought I was done with washers and dryers for a few years. Dryer still works.
Haven’t heard of it, but worth a try if it is not to expensive.
I keep a tub with a coffee scoop under the sink instead of the box, takes up less room. It could be pre mixed that way.
Wrong. Just bought a kitchen of Bosch appliances. Not even installed yet.
Front loaders are more or less sealed once the door is closed, so it's no wonder they can get moldy if left with the door closed. Why wouldn't they?
I like my 15 year old Whirlpool Duet front loader and like it a bit more now that I've had to take it apart a couple of times, the first time last January to replace the pump, the second time last April to replace the bottom half of the tub, since Whirlpool doesn't sell the bearings separately, but only as a unit.
My only concern is whether the shaft holding the basket might be worn from the old bearing and that increased gap between the new bearing and shaft due to the worn area will mean more vibration and a much shorter useful life. I wish I knew how loud a new machine is to compare.
I here looking to replace my Mom's old top loader with a new top loader, but I'd probably get myself another front loader when the time comes, as I like how they handle the really big loads like comforters, rugs, etc.
Good. I’m very happy with our dishwasher, washer, and dryer - all Bosch.
It'd be full of cat hair. ;-)
Speed Queen heavy duty with mechanical controls (and the matching dryer (electric vs gas).
No doubt. A front loader would look even better than an empty box!
