I agree. The actions of Houston are beyond the pale. Far beyond the pale.
So now we’re going to have government passing judgement on what clergy preach about from the pulpit?? We’re going to end up giving government veto power over what is preached? Because those are the logical end results of this.
We are on a collision course between religions and secular law.
As homosexual marriage spreads more and more, and as numerous “LGBT civil rights” laws are passed, churches will find themselves at odds with secular law.
Are we on the road to criminalizing religious faiths which teach that homosexuality is a sin??? Clearly such faiths are counter to the secular laws which give new rights to homosexuals. But are we going to criminalize this?? That’s what could happen.
> As an agnostic, I find the leftist shakedown of Christian Pastors for standing up for the tenets of Christianity ABSOLUTELY APPALLING and downright scary.
I damn sure wouldn’t subpoena the minutes from a GLAD (Gay Lesbian Advocates Defenders) meeting to find out what they’re saying about consevative Christians. They have the right to free speech (and free thought). Mayor Parker’s actions are clearly an overreach of power and people like her do not need to be in office. if unchecked and unpunished itsets a precedent for tyrants to infringe even further on our constitutional rights.
As well you should.
Today, they’re going after pastors and churches.
Tomorrow it may be gun rights supporters (”opposing gun control is HATE SPEECH because guns kill people!!!” or it may be people opposed to government handouts (”opposing social justice is racist and HATE SPEECH!!!”).
Protest? This nazi should tarred and feathered. With Christian love, of course.
This may be appalling, but here:
(http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3217066/posts “Not a Bad Guess to say Adrian Peterson is Finished”)
you will find Freepers defending the not only the right, but the OBLIGATION, of Big Government to determine how we live our personal lives.
How do you rape a child and make him or her feel guilty about it?
You tell them they hate.
I don’t think we should accept this with protest either, we should not accept this at all.
I agree, I got a wake up call when I saw some of the stuff thrown around about Christians a number of years ago. Hate and bigotry run in a process. One that starts with making threats. At this point the momentum is there to do far worse, in the more obvious sense.
I notice that no Imam’s notes or sermons on stoning homosexuals were subpoenaed.
