This week, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected gay marriage appeals from Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin, in essence allowing lower courts to legalize same-sex couples. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), an institution that has vigorously opposed gay marriage for some time now, conceded that the political battle over marriage is over. As far as the civil law is concerned, the Mormon Church admitted, the courts have spoken.
Actually, nothing is over until God says its over. At least, this is my understanding of how religion operates. So while I dont want to accuse Mormons of being a bunch of serial quitters, lets just say this isnt the first time theyve folded in the face of adversity. Luckily, every time a door closes
Obviously, polygamy, once practiced by early church members, has long since been renounced by the LDS church. It the late nineteenth century, after decades of religious persecution and pressure from the U.S. government, Mormons dropped the practice (although some obstinate fundamentalist groups persist). The LDS is probably the last group willing to bring up plural marriage, but now would be the time to right some historical wrongs.
The would-be polygamist needs only to use the arguments of a gay-marriage advocate: What kind of moral claim, for instance, does anyone have to stand in the way of peaceful, consenting adults who call their union a marriage? Shouldnt every minority, no matter how beleaguered, be able to enjoy happiness with the oneor onesthey love? In a perfect nation, wouldnt all Americans be immune from the cultural and religious prejudices of others? Isnt it a tad judgmental for us to force every household to comport to our own stifling definition of family? Sally Kohn knows what Im talking about.

(As a side note, I question if the federal entities of Clause 17 would be allowing gay marriage if the ill-conceived 16th and 17th Amendments hadn't been ratified.)
Getting back to state powers, since you mentioned federal marriage laws and federal immigration laws in your previous post, note that the Founding States made the 10th Amendment to clarify that the Constitution's silence about things like marriage and immigration means that such issues are automatically uniquely intrastate power issues.
And with one exception to federal laws based on powers which the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the Supreme Court has clarified that powers not delegated to the feds via the Constitution, marriage and immigration in this example, are prohibited to the feds.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
The only exception to such federal laws is the power delegated by the states to Congress, evidenced by the "Full Faith and Credit" clause (Section 1 of Article IV), to decide the extent to which the states have to respect the official records of another state, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) reasonable based on the Full Faith Clause.
But regardless that the corrupt media and activist justices want everybody to believe that the Supreme Court found DOMA unconstitutional, Section 2 of DOMA is evidenly still in effect and indicates that a given state doesn't have to recognized gay marriage performed in another state. This is why the Supreme Court ignoring the 10th Amendment-protect power of the states to make laws which prohibit gay marriage, and the lame response of the states to the Supreme Court's ignoring the issue reeks of a 10th Amendment-ignoring, pro-gay agenda scandal.
DOMA:
This Act may be cited as the Defense of Marriage Act.
No State, territory, or possession of the United States, or Indian tribe, shall be required to give effect to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding of any other State, territory, possession, or tribe respecting a relationship between persons of the same sex that is treated as a marriage under the laws of such other State, territory, possession, or tribe, or a right or claim arising from such relationship.
In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the word 'marriage' means only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband anå∆d wife, and the word 'spouse' refers only to a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or a wife.
Ignoring the 10th Amendment and DOMA Section 2 with respect to state laws which prohibit constitutionally unprotected gay marriage is why the Supreme Court ignoring state laws prohibiting gay marriage, along with the lame response of the states to the Supreme Court's suspicious ignoring of the issue, reeks of a Constitution-ignoring, pro-gay agenda scandal.
Put your thoughts into a shorter, more focused post, and I will read them.
The 10th amendment doesnt control federal marriage law and regulations in the military, for federal employment, in immigration, or in foreign policy, nor in appointment of federal judges and the Supreme Court.
If you are against gay marriage and trying to stop it, then you might want to start paying attention.
I surmise that you are not able to argue against the substantiated points that I made.
But the difference rests with the fact that homosexuality is a mental disease while having two wives is not. I am not Mormon and I only have one wife of near 40 years. When I was young I did have a couple of ladies I was dating at the same time. Not really a big deal.

Sorry about the almost double post.
Why would you choose to pretend that instead of just reading my post to you, it was very short and clear.

Ohhh, I know why, to keep from having to actually deal with post 23 and ending gay marriage, rather than diddling away while it becomes the law of the land.
Because there is a Biblical history of polygamy, not a history of agreeing with homosexual behavior. Homosexual behavior is deliberately being pushed because it is deliberately offensive to someone really sticking to the Word of God according to the main monotheistic groups. If you can, by law silence them on that, you can pretty much push them into obscurity, then allow them to fade, unless there is some master plan on behalf of God for his followers, which I believe there is. America has long pushed in motion a destruction and a fall which has been beyond its control.
I observed what happened Biblically regarding Abraham, Jacob, and even others, and I found a similar result.
IMHO, if there is a way to push benefits in while avoiding a marriage license altogether, it doesn’t sound like a bad deal, especially when you have a government that runs a constant budget deficit, makes no move to encourage fidelity within marriage, doesn’t push much disincentive for avoiding birth and children outside of wedlock, and no-fault divorce. If I could ever do anything differently, I would marry in church, but legally sign everything without ever bothering to get a state license.
You would first have to find a minister or Priest that would marry you without a license, and it would not be a legal marriage, it sure wouldn’t work well for you if you went into the military and it could haunt you in many ways as a civilian.
Common law marriage is legal in some states, but it still has to comply with the law, to be legal.
The Highest Court has; I'm afraid; already rendered a decision...
Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."
Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.
Isaiah 3:9 The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.
2 Peter 2:13b Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.
Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;
5. if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
6. if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
7. and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
8. (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
9. if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
10. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
11. yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
12. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
13. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.
But there IS hope!!!
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape...
True; see #3
True; for they have the ONLY one that GOD speaks to these days...
No; it’s about MONEY!
Everything they complain about not having; being unmarried; can be attained in other ways.
I wonder how Islam does it?
Yup.
and then control the communication channels to transmit all of it!
GOD somehow FAILED to change the Mormon SCRIPTURE!
58 Now, as touching the law of the apriesthood, there are many things pertaining thereunto.
59 Verily, if a man be called of my Father, as was aAaron, by mine own voice, and by the voice of him that bsent me, and I have endowed him with the ckeys of the power of this priesthood, if he do anything in my name, and according to my law and by my word, he will not commit dsin, and I will justify him.
60 Let no one, therefore, set on my servant Joseph; for I will justify him; for he shall do the sacrifice which I require at his hands for his transgressions, saith the Lord your God.
61 And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthoodif any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse aanother, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.
62 And if he have aten virgins given unto him by this law, he cannot commit adultery, for they belong to him, and they are given unto him; therefore is he justified.
63 But if one or either of the ten virgins, after she is espoused, shall be with another man, she has committed adultery, and shall be destroyed; for they are given unto him to amultiply and replenish the earth, according to my commandment, and to fulfil the promise which was given by my Father before the foundation of the world, and for their exaltation in the eternal worlds, that they may bear the souls of men; for herein is the work of my Father continued, that he may be bglorified.
64 And again, verily, verily, I say unto you, if any man have a wife, who holds the keys of this power, and he teaches unto her the law of my priesthood, as pertaining to these things, then shall she believe and administer unto him, or she shall be destroyed, saith the Lord your God; for I will destroy her; for I will magnify my name upon all those who receive and abide in my law.
65 Therefore, it shall be lawful in me, if she receive not this law, for him to receive all things whatsoever I, the Lord his God, will give unto him, because she did not believe and administer unto him according to my word; and she then becomes the transgressor; and he is exempt from the law of Sarah, who administered unto Abraham according to the law when I commanded Abraham to take aHagar to wife.
66 And now, as pertaining to this law, verily, verily, I say unto you, I will reveal more unto you, hereafter; therefore, let this suffice for the present. Behold, I am Alpha and Omega. Amen.
