Get ready for deeper pockets, because they could be coming to a pair of pants near you. Now that Apple has launched the ginormous iPhone 6 Plus, brands are starting to reconsider their designs to accommodate the devices 5.5″ size. Samsung Galaxy users might wonder, Where was this when we bought our phones two years ago? We guess you can chalk this revelation up to the Apple effect.
Customers have been complaining they cant fit their new fancy iPhones in their jean pockets, and when they do manage to stuff their devices in there, sometimes the phone itself bends. At this point, retailers are pretty much forced to explore ways to keep your precious mobile device in your pocket without any problems. Quite a few brands are starting to consider designing larger pockets on their pants, now that more people than ever will be toting around mega-large phones and phablets.
Uniqlo told Quartz that it is actively meeting to discuss the issue and is thinking of tweaking the pockets on its jeans. Lee Jeans says its working on more tech portability options in its clothing: Its something that we always are considering, in terms of the functionality of our garments. Of course, were always going to make sure that were going for something thats flattering for the consumer
but were always thinking about how she wears the garment, what occasion shes wearing the jeans for and what she needs to just make them work for her everyday life.

Lots of pants have deep pockets. Just not the tight jeans hipsters like to wear.
Women's pants today (except jeans) don't include pockets, unless you're thinking of those stupid painter's pants with pockets below the knees!
I keep my clothes for a long time. I have some still serviceable trousers that are 15 years old, and an odd thing is happening.
The front pockets have slowly shrunk to about 3/4 size.
The snarky claim is that cargo pants are popular only with out of date old codgers.
Perhaps that's true, but those are the only trousers now available with decent pockets!
So this is a trendy news item?
The idiocracy most certainly is here.
My experience has been that the size of ones phone is inversely proportional to ones IQ.
The Idiocracy is here.
She said....”Are you happy to see me or is that just your phone in your pocket?”
That depends...is it bent?
The better to fit one's pocket holster, mmh?
Good, those pockets make for great places to put extra mags and pocket pistols in.
Exactly. Will be able to go from a snubbie to a 3-4” barrel.
Thumbs up to overalls. Been an almost daily part of my wardrobe for, oh, 40 years or so. Separate from the endorsement of overalls as highly utilitarian garb, Carhartt jeans have deep front pockets.
I'll have to check that out...
Well don’t plan on asking a woman to carry your phone in her pocket for you!
Agreed. Deeper pockets for larger hand guns like GLOCK 19 or 26.
I have no cellphone, have no urge to ever have one, but pockets cannot be too big or too numerous.
My suggestion would be a double pocket, one with
an interior pocket just for the phone. I end up carrying
lots of stuff, keys, etc and the screen does get
scratches also lint and dirt in the ports.
I always carry mine with the screen against my leg
but sometimes stuff gets against the face anyway.
That’s why cargo pants and cargo shorts are going to stick around long after their sell-by date. Plenty of room for the growing amount of stuff guys haul around and we wouldn’t be caught dead carrying a “man-purse.”
As for the so-called “skinny jeans,” while I’m glad to see something other than sagging oversized jeans being worn, men wearing “skinny jeans” won’t have a problem carrying a “man-purse” from what I’ve seen.
I want my phone in shirt pocket
