Anybody else download and install the Windows 10 preview? I am using it now. I haven't noticed any major hiccups yet, speed and responsiveness is great. Having the live tiles and apps in the start menu is great, especially since you can now use the apps in a window. I also noticed my apps from my old WinRT tablet show and work in x86.
Once one can do audio, video, CAD, browser, DT publishing, web site building, VPN, R, etc, what does a new O/S bring to the table? NSA compatibility? Kowtowing to the media?
More stable kernel, optimized code, software capatability, enhanced security, etc..there are lots of reasons to upgrading an OS.

Trying Windows 10 Tech Preview? Keep these 7 things in mind
6. Itll put a crimp in your entertainment options
Installing the Windows 10 Technical Preview disables the PCs ability to play DVDs using Windows Media Player, and it removes Windows Media Center from PCs running Windows 8 Pro with Media Center. Its not clear why this is. Maybe Microsoft wants you focused on the testing, and not spending time watching movies or listening to music.
No- They wont work until the get to windows 9.8

I don't care what Universe you are from, that is just damn funny!
I thought Minecraft would be the new UI.
Disappointment.

++++
Could you elaborate on that just a bit. “Live tiles and apps in the Start Menu”?
No thanks
My ideal o/s would be a real-time capable, PC, multimedia/controller somewhat like the BeOS vision.
I think you might have misread my post. :)
I was saying that the over a couple of gigs download was incredibly fast.
Its technically an alpha - not even beta quality software.
Use at your own risk.
Yep, I misread your post. My bad. Long day. I should turn the computer off now and go get some rest ............
The livetiles are the continous updated info apps, such as news, mail, social etc. Instead of launching the start screen like in 8 you just click start and the menu shows you your apps and stuff. Also in Win8 you could only use applications from the store on the start menu Win10 fixes that by allowing all apps to be used in a window.
The large tiles and start screen have been made smaller and integrated into the desktop start menu. It will work on a wider range of devices. Those are the major changes I’ve seen. Microsoft received a lot of criticism for the changes made in Windows 8 and they are responding to this criticism by making Windows 10 much more like Windows 7.
Windows is making it a lot easier though, with this “Asimov” feature.
The original poster already mentioned it's windows.
Why would I possibly wish to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7?
"Trust me."
I see you're using the Server Edition of Windows 98 . . .
No reason. If Win 7 is doing what you want, you do NOT want to upgrade, at least not until 2020 when extended support for Win 7 ends.
Win 10 will NOT be free for Win 7 users -- only Win 8 users get the break, because they're suffering.
I have half a dozen Win 7 systems, and they're staying at Win 7 for the next 5 years, barring something that I absolutely need, and that will only run on Win 10.
