When you think of a Greyhound, what comes to mind? Possibly a fast dog racing around a track? Greyhounds make great companions although this is probably not the first breed that comes to mind when thinking of adopting a dog. Perhaps it is because there are some erroneous myths surrounding greyhounds that keep people from considering adoption.

We lost a dog last Christmastime. Still love that dog. She broke our hearts when she died. We had her in our arms, on the way to the doggie hospital when she died.
We got a puppy, who has turned out to be a happy soul and a real sprite of a pup. But we do miss our girl.
Before I got her, I had not had a dog for over 20 years. I grieved for years and years over my Airedale.

Count on me to be looking out for you and good luck, try hard and hurry up every chance you get.
A friend of mine adopted a ex-race track greyhound.
He is cute, mellow, sleeps a lot. A good dog all the way around.
Condolences, they do become part of the family.
I like Examiner.
They post tons of animal abuse cases, including Puppycide By Cop, that would otherwise go unnoticed and unaddressed.
Posting links from their site is hardly blog-pimping.
Anything that helps the thousands of Greyhounds desperately needing homes is a good thing.
I had an Irish Setter many years ago that could never master the steps. Beautiful gal...just dumb as a box of rocks.
The only thing I really know about greyhounds is that they are supposed to be hypersensitive and are completely crushed if you scold them. This comes from two friends that rescue greyhounds.
That being said..I had a husky/wolf hybrid that couldn’t stand to be scolded. He would hit the floor like I had shot him, lol. (I didn’t scold him much. It hurt me more than it did him.)
There was a racing greyhound named Howie Carr, and the talk show host Howie Carr wanted to adopt him, but for some reason it didn’t go through.
*chuckle*
That’s pretty much what he did.
:D
I’m sorry about your loss, but it’s nice that you have a cheerful new puppy!
